Devastated.
My first thought is 'look at meeeee!'
My second is he's a pot entirely full of toss
My third, praise be.
Bloody hell !

But I shouldn't worry too much sp....I am sure he will un-resign again pretty soon, if his past behaviour is anything to go by !
Why is he standing down? Has he a plan?

If I were him I would wait until we are out.

He needs to make sure we get out and are not shafted by bad losers.

A loss to politics in this country
Agree cassa.
Well, this referendum vote to unshackle ourselves from the overlords in Brussels appears to have devastated Westminster politics rather more so far...

My suspicious mind tells me that somebody has made him an offer he can't refuse !
He'll be back !!!!
Unlike most party leaders he accomplished what he set out to do, kept his promise and through his conviction and loyalty to his country lost a lucrative job. He is not finished. He can do another job unlike most. We have not seen the last of him. Good luck to the man.
Or perhaps he feels, as I do, that now that his job is done, he has nothing more to offer ?
yep mikey has it, he's been made an offer probably by Theresa.
I think it is for the best.

He has done what he wanted, but at the negotiation stage his manner would be a liability to the country.

I hope he can stay quiet now, but I doubt it.
Question Author
The last ten days have been like the best ever episode of 'The Thick of It'.

I too am surprised at the timing of this. There are scant details right now...will be interesting to hear Farage's plans...and who on earth is going to succeed him as UKIP leader???
Everyone's bowing out, except for Corbyn. Pity.
Has a rest.
Re-joins the Conservatives.
Gets a job on the Brexit team under Leadsom, if she wins.
Or TV punitary work if not.
He's also probably quitting while in front.

After all, what future is there for UKIP now?
They are basically a one policy party, and have got what they asked for.
Possibly now Farage has gone Douglas Carswell ( is that his name?) UKIP's only MP, will not be thrown out of the party, but elected leader. He and Farage were always at each other's throats.
I am hoping he is given the task of carrying out the brexit.
