AOG, I read all that the first time - and yes, I do notice how the debate unfolds - which is why I asked the question. Never mind. You've answered it now.
AOG

Just to be clear (I think some of us may have misinterpreted what you mean) - are you saying that the Jews who came to Britain to flee the Nazis are showing ingratitude, or their descendants?

I ask because surely there can't be that many of the former?

So do you mean those who actually came to Britain, or their children / grandchildren / great grandchildren?

I would have thought that some would now consider themselves truly 'British' and wouldn't just pick up stumps and head off to foreign climes, just because a democratic vote didn't go their way.
Bear in mind that many people under 40 have never known life outside the EU and consider themselves European.
There has also been a surge in the number of people wanting Irish citizenship too.
Seems many people do not want to lose the travel and other privelidges that come with EU citizenship, so are making plans to remain EU citizens when the rest of us lose ours.

Then perhaps it is their lefty geography teacher who has never taught them that there is a group of islands off the coast of Europe called the "British Isles" also called the United Kingdom, consisting of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

For their benefit there is no such country called Europe or even the European Union.

So I presume they will lose their British passport then?

In your dreams, old chap, in your dreams.
Not if they have dual nationality, AOG. They'll have both British and German or Irish passports.
Well just one example of many is:

'I would have thought that some would now consider themselves truly 'British' and wouldn't just pick up stumps and head off to foreign climes, just because a democratic vote didn't go their way.'

have you actually read that back to yourself and compared it to some of your other anti-immigration posts?
AOG your attitude to those who fled persecution in WW2 seems a bit at odds with your attitude to refugees from Syria and Afghanistan who are seeking refuge in Europe now.
They are not really planning to leave the UK. But wisely they are making contingency plans in case Brexit results in many job losses. The example given is the man working in the City. He seems to think that a lot of financial services jobs will be lost here as firms relocate to Frankfurt. If that comes to pass, he himself can move there despite being British born.
//He seems to think that a lot of financial services jobs will be lost here as firms relocate to Frankfurt. //

Does he? I know plenty of people who work in the city - but they're not speculating or doom-mongering.
Incidentally, one of the biggest names in the city and in the world has told its staff ‘It’s business as usual’. Don't panic, Gromit!!

No comparison.
To the best of my knowledge the kindertransport jews did not molest and rape men, women and children in the town squares or public lidos of their host nations. Come to that they haven't bombed and killed on our public transport network or decapitated off duty soldiers.
Lots of young people will shortly no longer have the right to live, study, work and love in 27 countries, I would jump at a chance to have a bit of that if I could.
If you only had some new legs Randy marsh you could jump at that!
RandyMarsh, // Lots of young people will shortly no longer have the right to live, study, work and love in 27 countries//

Do you really think no one ever did any of those things before we joined Europe? Seriously?
I'm not panicing Noami, the man whose job may go is not panicking. But planning for all eventualities is wise.
