The bit about Pubs is just as true here about 25 miles south of Peterborough.
Nothing to do with migrants though. 6 pubs have closed in the last 3 years. Two converted into housing developments( the 2 pubs & their gardens have become 41 flats and 3 large houses) Three derelict and being gradually destroyed by vandals , one of them has already lost its roof, and one that is still 'being refurbished' with work that has already been on and off for 3 years.
Our corner shop stocks a wide range of Polish sausages cold meats, pickles and beers, they are excellent, better and cheaper than the British versions.
I only drink Polish beer at home now it is simply better than anything the UK can offer.
The only problem with selling houses here is that there are too few of them to meet demand , they get sold within days or even hours of going on the market.

The housing in Peterborough is slightly cheaper than in my town. I am just 12 miles from Cambridge. Peterborough house prices are rising rapidly as the search for houses within commuting distance of Cambridge pushes up prices.
Sorry I just can't buy the bit about 'can't sell the house'. The developments on the new science park beside Addenbrokes hospital will have 3,000 new jobs to be filled in the next few years, mainly well paid in the pharmaceutical industry. Many of the employees will be looking to Peterborough for property. A one bed flat in Cambridge is £250,000 and up you can get a 3 decent size bedroom place in Peterborough for less than that money at the moment!

TWR....this may not be an exact analogy, but there are loads of Brits living in the Spanish Costas but I have yet to see any reports of racist graffiti being daubed over their houses.

Nor have I seen any reports of Spanish barmen moaning on about how all the lovely Spanish Bars are closing and reverting to burger and chips joints selling Watneys Red Barrel !
