I have asked this already, but did anybody actually raise any issue with the way Fatima Manji performed on the day is question ?
I haven't found any, only the usual rants against the way people dress and their religion.

Ellipsis at 14:19. No need to change her name but a change of image would have been considerate on this occasion. Why a western journalist reporting in this country feels compelled to swathe her head when she’s on television is beyond me. This woman doesn’t do it as a matter of course – and I really can’t believe she thinks the sight of her hair is going to drive men wild with desire (the only reason Muslim women are advised to cover their heads). I would hope she’s far more worldly wise than that. Andy-hughes has been talking about uniforms – and that’s exactly what this is.
Naomi, she can wear what she likes - she lives in a free country.
The hijab shows she's a Moslem, not a terrorist, therefore a "change of image" would have been "considerate" only to people who believe Moslem equals terrorist.
Given that the news was about how appalling the attack was, and it was being presented by a Moslem woman, should you not be applauding her for taking this stance rather than, for example, refusing to read the news about Moslem attacks?!
And also, if it was Moslem men who were trying to prevent her from reading the news, would you not be decrying them for oppressing her freedom?

Perhaps she feels more comfortable that way - in any event, it is her personal choice to dress as she wishes.

We have no way of knowing why she chooses to dress this way - and I don't believe it is beholden on her to tell us.
We can speculate wildly - as you choose to do, or not care a jot, as I do - the end result is the same.
//Andy-hughes has been talking about uniforms – and that’s exactly what this is. //
In your view, which is just that, your view, unsupported by any evidence whatsoever - but I have been arguing that point past the realms of tedium with another AB'er, and I know you don't need to journey down that particular path!

> The rest of your post amounts to hypothetical questions which add nothing to the discussion ...
... except to show the hypocrisy of your arguments, since (for example) you would deny her the freedom to wear what she wants, yet denounce male Muslims for denying her the freedom to wear what she wants.

Naomi - //Andy-hughes at 16:12. She is not wearing this garb to prevent men from lusting after her. If she were, she would wear it in public all the time – but she doesn’t. This is nothing more than a public symbol of her religion. //
I have to say, your assumer is firing on all twelve today!
You have no idea why this lady dresses as she does - anymore than I have any idea - or indeed interest - in why you dress as you do.
The important thing is - as a free society, you, me, and Muslim women, are entirely free to dress as they wish, and they should not have to moderate their appearance based on some pre-presumed sense of outrage from anonymous television viewers.
Nest, you'll be wanting John Snow to get rid of his tie collection!!!

Naomi - // I have said that what she wore is a symbol of Islam and that, in the circumstances, I would have hoped both she and Channel 4 might have had the good grace to show a little sensitivity here. //
If the lady is wearing a 'symbol of Islam' what 'sensitivity' is involved in not wearing it?
Islam is not a terrorist organisation - except in the minds of bigots, and their views don't count!
