Does anyone think that I, as an elderly white male person would be upsetting anyone by appearing on a beach somewhere in this world wearing my bathing costume now that I have had the elbows darned & it is now in a reasonably fit state ?
I rock up on the beach dressed as a medieval crusader knight now then?
Mamya - re: 'there won't be peace in my lifetime'.

There will never be peace...
Personally I'm against such bans, not because there isn't a battle to fought against repressive forms of Islam of which things like the burqa are ostentatious symbols, but because it;s the wrong terrain to fight - we're marching uphill in mud. (Remember Waterloo?). As is evident from the two threads on AB and the legal appeals in France, it's given the stealth jihadis another easy victory. Now we can forget about the fifty people murdered in Nice the other week and focus instead on those other victims, the misunderstood and marginalised Muslims.

The tactic is as familiar as it is disgusting: after every jihadi atrocity don't ask "Who did it? Why? How are we going to stop it?; ask instead "How will this effect "normal, peace-loving Muslims? When will the backlashstart?".

I can remember this vile tactic being deployed after the Charlie Hebdo murders". The bodies of the murdered had hardly stopped spurting blood before some news "reporter" was shoving a microphone in the face of a frightened looking woman in a scarf who was explaining how worried she was for her and her children's future.

The tactic is very effective. Works every time. Not just because the stealth jihadists are very good at what they do, but they have all their enablers in the Pharisaic Tendency.
I agree about the wet suits DB, but somebody suggested on here that they might be a suitable replacement for the Burkini ....daft I know !

Actually, I have to agree with one thing...some women are taking this ban to mean that they can dress up in their religious garb on the beach to provoke a reaction.

This really needs to stop now.
Sp - what would we do without a habitual poster like you?
Mikey, you can say that I mentioned wetsuits you know. It’s not a secret. A wetsuit is about as suitable for sunbathing and swimming as the ludicrous burkini – but the point is it covers the body just as adequately which is the object of the exercise.

SP, hands over eyes again?

V_E, good post, but wasted I fear.
good luck wearing bikinis in saudi.....muslims = trouble..wherever they go

about time these people started abiding by our laws and customs...why they come to non muslim countries is a mystery...oh hold on, wait a minute...
A burkini is much more modest than a wet suit !!!!!
We know.
Very good ,:-)

Maybe dry suits would be a better idea. ;o)

Haha! I know. Not done it myself - don't do cold water - but I know several who have tinkered about under the ice. I live with one them. Mad fool! :o)
divebuddy - //Comparisons with a wetsuit are ludicrous. If you wore one on a hot beach, i.e. to lie in the sun sunbathing; you would probably die of heatstroke. Wetsuits are only worn by active water users - skiers, divers, surfers, that sort. Out of the water for any time and the top is rolled down so you don't cook. //

How refreshing, someone on a thread about Islam who can actually claim to know what they are talking about, and be believed by everyone else!

Highly unusual, but no less welcome for that ...
bazwillrun - //muslims = trouble..wherever they go ... //

Might that be considered something of a sweeping statement, do you think?
agchristie @ 19.03

You are of course correct.
