No time soon it seems AOG.Been going since the mid sixties now.

Despite all the clever new techniques and policing strategies we still have the same old criminal element and injuries.

As for the police images,might as well bin the tattoo overhaul idea!

Do we know whether overall stabbings in London in such a period is significantly higher than the stabbings in London on a normal bank holiday period?
Maybe the usual level of crime is just being compressed into one small area

It's unlikely that the Carnival will be banned any time soon, because there have been terrible years (this one) with 450 arrests, and then relatively quiet ones like 2011.

What happens is that when it's a quiet year, people with an agenda will say "Oh, the police turned a blind eye", and when it's a violent one, people will say, "When will it be banned?"

It's win-win for certain people.

I checked on stabbing in London after AOG's first thread adding these 6 to the monthly total is here nor there.

doubtless 6 is too many, but I wouldn't bet that it's more than in any given crowd of a million or so people. At the very worst, it draws in all the violent criminals of London, thus leaving the rest of the streets of London crime-free for a weekend.

The level of arrests will be linked to the number of cops there, especially since they're given enhanced stop and search powers; but 450 sounds about normal. Mostly drugs and some weapons.

In fairness to AOG, he doesn't want the Pride march banned. He only questions why there isn't a 'straight pride march' to oppose the gay pride march.

Not sure why it needs to be opposed though.
