Where you have negative incidents happening involving large crowds action is usually taken of a proactive nature. Consider rioting and criminal behaviour at large sporting events.Football for instance.Alcohol was banned following the riots after the 1980 Scottish Cup Final.Clubs whose fans misbehaved were banned from subsequent competitions or...

PP, you are a proper tonic. ;)
Jno > agc, what other annual event in Britain is this size? (Indeed, in all Europe?)

Maybe elsewhere in Europe they realise the scale of the task and are not prepared to put up with all the hassle?

/// Why do you have such a problem with the carnival, AOG? ///

I am not on my own:

It is also a problem for those who are stabbed.

It is a problem for those who are attacked in other ways.

It is a problem for those who have their pockets picked.

It is a problem for the residents who live in the area.

It is a problem for the police.

It is a problem for the ambulance's staff.

It is a problem for the A&Es.

It is a problem for those who have to clean up the filth.

It is a problem period.

Any other such event which caused all these problems would be banned.

LOL, LOL, LOL!!!!!!

It is certainly not a peace rally.
And Greenham Common was entirely peaceful AOG?
Many carnivals and festivals or street party have those problems. They also have many benefits.
Don't understand what your issue is here.

Cities suffer from all the above ... Cities are a problem let's ban Cities.

Good thinking, Talbot, get rid of them all!!!
The world is awash with killjoys, on the streets of Notting Hill and on line. Sadly.
Until people learn to live like civilised humans some cities will remain *** ties.

Sadly, Ron, I don't think that'll happen.
It would be great if a gathering of people as large as this could pass entirely without incident but you will always get some bother in such a vast crowd.

I sincerely doubt that this or other carnivals and festivals will be banned.
If we were talking about a far right demo where the costs for policing are far lower and usually less violent, there would be many on here screaming ban, ban, ban!!
Maybe AOG is missing the rucks on Brighton beach. Mod or rocker?
What money did it generate?, that usually makes the difference.

How many millions per stabbing was generated?
Quite a few, Randy, at a guess.
I bet that there was more dancing than at your average right wing demo, oh and better food. :)
Dare I say if it was a nice white carnival that AOG would not have so much of an issue!!
I don't think AOG likes any sort of gathering.
