What was the policeman supposed to say? "Alright sir if you don't want to step out of the car, drive safely and have a good day".

When I was receiving careers advice at school,I and a lot of my peers had aspirations of joining the police force. This wasn't that long ago but I would not touch this profession with a bargepole now even if I was offered the job on a plate. There are a lot of brave cops out there who literally put their lives on the line in some of the difficult situations they face....

The policeman was clearly wrong to do what he did - but I wonder why the driver locked himself in the car and refused to get out?
Maybe he didn't trust the police.

Why was he wrong to try force himself into the car?

Had this suspect been in a house and refused to allow the police in, wouldn't they be well within their rights to force entry to the property?

What's the difference?
\\ This is enough for the driver who jumps out of the other door and is quickly surrounded by another officer//
Poetic licence at its best, how can one officer surround somebody?
Perhaps the reason why the chap didn't get out of the car is because he was bloody terrified of the policemen !

The cop was clearly dangerously out of control. If this had happened in America, the man would be dead by now.
I always have and have had the feeling that people in the UK find it difficult to do what they are told..........probably happens to people worldwide.

Just do what you are told......get out of the car...what IS the big deal?
Looking at this clip last night, to say that the PC was out of control is an understatement, in my opinion he should be sent the Anger Management sessions.
Not the brightest of peace officers. Much easier to get your hands on disobedient yoof through the side windows.
Watching too many repeats of Police, Camera, Action.
It appears from the DM link, that this Policeman is still out there, on the streets.

Here is the BBC link ::::

AOG, I imagine if a policeman was refused entry to a house he’d call for back-up rather than taking it upon himself to batter the door down. As sqad says what is the big deal about getting out of a car when asked to?
The video explains the reluctance for him to get out of the car.
He's saying he won't get out for his safety, but had he done as he was told in the first place he wouldn't have been in that position.
Ummmm has it correct here. If I was faced with this mad Policeman, who was clearly out of control, I would sit tight and call 999 !
Mikey, had you done as the policeman asked you wouldn't be facing that situation.
Will the police pay for the damage?
Much more important, when will this mad cop be suspended ?
I agree with naomi.......just get out of the car at the first request........tell me mikey...what would have been the problem?
We don't know his previous experience with the police. The police officer clearly knew him once he gave his name.

You have no idea what took place before the driver chose to film the event.
Sqad.........perhaps he was afraid that the Policeman would have started on him with his baton, instead of the car. We don't know what the previous few minutes of this incident were. The cop had clearly lost his temper, and was a danger to anybody around him.
