She never mentioned Putin at all in the interview ?
"The line of questioning followed comments she made in a 2015 radio interview when she was Ukip’s foreign affairs spokesperson"
"During the LBC interview, she described Putin as a strong leader who stands up for Russia. “I admire him from the point of view that he’s standing up for his country. He is very nationalist,” she said"

Mikey your response to me about Hitler was what I expected. A genuinely evil and demented man who managed to get the majority of a whole nation to follow his views, carry out unthinkable atrocities against other humans and even idolise him. Yes that defines a great leader - someone who can lead others down the path he wants.

So you have just found out what she said about Putin was in 2015 ... so she didn't put her foot in it after 5 minutes did she?

I fail to see why she felt the need to make herself look stupid by mentioning Putin ?

Andrew Neil mentions Putin, Diane James doesn't.

She was asked to confirm that Putin was in her top three political heroes and she confirmed that he was.
As I indicated before, at least she's honest.
While everyone else ties themselves in knots about Hitler and who said what :-)
She's not showing 'support' for Putin, just her ignorance: because scratch a millimetre below the surface and Putin's great leadership qualities look a little less great.

/// If James had left out any mention of Putin, the rest of her comments wouldn't have caused a stir. ///
She had no choice, she was asked the direct question on the BBC1’s Sunday Politics,
*** Diane James, was asked on BBC1’s Sunday Politics who “other than Vladimir Putin” who were her political heroes. ***
all part of a usual BBC's 'words taken out of context' exercise based on a 2015 a LBC interview, when she described Putin as a strong leader who stands up for Russia.

Does anyone dispute those words? Putin undoubtedly stands up for Russia. He is u doubtedly Nationalistic. I really can't see a problem with what she said.
