Vulcan - I have repeated this point to distraction, but I am happy to reiterate it once again.
I have no problem with anyone who has deep and wide knowledge of a subject - as you advise, I do myself.
But I never have, and never would infer, or indeed state, that my superior knowledge means that the view of someone else on the subject is invalid, simply because I know more than they do.
Anyone is entitled to an opinion, and to express it, without anyone else scoffing at it, on the basis that their 'knowledge' - which is unproven - means that my opinion must be incorrect.
In conclusion - I completely accept that there are plenty of people on here who know more than I about a vast variety of subjects - Islam included.
But I will not sit still and be constantly reminded that I once long ago admitted my lack of deep knowledge, and therefore, by default, my opinion must be valueless, and I should leave the discussion to those who 'know' about it.
Everyone is entitled to a view, and to express it freely, and not to be scoffed at for lack of knowledge by people who's avowed 'knowledge' does not come equipped with a parallel level of humility, and the ability to allow others to have a view, even if it is uninformed.
If I adopted that attitude, I would be constantly upbraiding people for their 'incorrect' views on music, based on the fact that because I know more than they do, I must be right, and they must be wrong.
That would make me a boorish prig, and I have no wish to be seen as such, because that is not who I am, as anyone on this site who knows me (standard hostile attackers excused of course!) knows well.
I do hope that states my position once again - knowledge is a wonderful thing, but it does not infer self-righteousness and superiority on anyone.
