Those that voted leave didn't vote for a watered down EU pseudo membership, they wanted out, right out.

So basiclly the remain argument is we must remain because the ruling elite are too stupid to disentangle us from the trading arm of the EU. That is very different from the remainers on here saying the leavers were too stupid to know what they were voting for, didn't understand the real issues and that the leavers believed all the crap from the leave campaign but...

The huge majority of 'Leave' voters did not think the way you do TTT. They expected to stay in the European Customs Union and the EEA but out of the EU.
They did NOT vote for the UK to become the European version of North Korea!
Do you actually realise what being out of the European Customs Union actually means in reality ? It is a bit more than your '' Ok, so BMW's And Merc's are going to cost a bit more, get over it!''
Various news paper polls since the referendum have shown that between 35 & 76% of 'Leave' voters have now changed their mind. Even if that is 10x more than the real figure it still means the majority now want to stay in the EU!

Talbot, as has just been shown by the Richmond election it is not a Labour victory that is the possibility, it is the Lib Dems getting 10 to 20 more seats than they have now. The Lib Dems are totally for 'Remain' and determined to overturn 'Brexit', getting even 10 or 20 more seats will allow them to do it!
Apparently Sarah Olney the new Lib Dem MP walked out of a radio interview when 'informed' that the Remain campaign had insisted that Brexit meant leaving the single market also. But I don't recall ever during the campaign that it was ever that clear cut. Each side presented worst case and best case scenarios but one of the key arguments against leaving was the nightmare that would ever be the process. In fact, no one in the Remain side ever said it would be easy. A hard Brexit will be a disaster and the electorate WILL punish whoever delivers it.
I did explain why we should remain. Newsflash Tora.....many of those who voted remain think the EU is a bureaucratic nightmare (I think I already said that.....oh look, I did) so stop thinking we all love it. We don't. But,some of us had the self educated foresight to see that pulling out would be a nightmare.
I think Z-M has given his reason why we should remain, TTT: " Britain ...seems to be doing very well... Pulling out is proving to be a legal and financial minefield which anyone who did some research could see.".On balance remainers think it's worth staying. I voted remain because I felt that whilst the EU had huge faults pulling out would be painful, complex, disruptive, a diversion and time consuming for maybe 10 years.
I still think that's the case but given the vote was (albeit narrowly) to Leave I think we have to live with our decision and get on with it. Prolonging things will just make matters even worse
