No.

A possible ear crime.
They were playing load music while driving which is not allowed. The police stopped the vehicle, advised that they should cut the volume to be safely driving... an er, that's it - another none story.

// “Officers made enquires as to the circumstances and gave advice to the occupants on the broadcasting of loud music in the area

“Enquiries were conducted and the vehicle was allowed to proceed on its way.” //

Yawn. Another boring none news story ):-/
No - It was too loud man.
I am with Gromit and Mamy here !

Have you noticed that whenever a car drives past, with its sound system up far too high, its never Mozart or Bach ?
They aren't trying to justify this as anything. They had a word with him and it was resolved.
Typical Express story it would seem !

\\A diverse neighbourhood and the Jerusalem thing, some people may take offence to that, im not saying they will.//

so it clearly is a racial thing then.

Dave.

Reading the posts of some, without first reading the link provided, one would assume that this whole affair was just about the playing of loud music, whilst driving.

But no, surprise, surprise it was more that that, it was about causing offence to 'others'.

The 'crime' that they actually committed was the playing of a patriotic hymn whilst at the same time flying our country's flag, in such a diverse area.
I can't open the link (cross scripting issue, presumably because the express site is riddled with badly written adverts).

but it does seem to me that patriotism is acceptable in every country except the uk, where it's viewed as racist bigotry.
classic "right on" brigade taking offence on behalf of others. This plod is a disgrace, should be ashamed of himself.
The only people I can see taking offence are the OP and yourself Tora.
ANOTHEOLDGIT, since the English flag has been mentioned, why does your avatar have a Union Flag and not the English one? You said the other day you are not British, you are English, just wondering.
// The police also have powers to deal with cars playing loud music (whilst driving and stationary) although the officers would have to be present and hear the noise before they could take any action. //

Bet they don't have a "word" when the adhan is being broadcast 5 times a day.

And they have every right to be offended, people are sick at others telling us, what we can or can't do in our own country.
If he was sat outside my house playing it I'd tell him to turn it down too.

Don't be so stupid Corby, England is the country in which I and my forefathers were born. England is part of the United kingdom and the Union Flag is the flag of our nation.

And pray what would your feelings be regarding what Togo mentioned, that being when the adhan is being broadcast 5 times a day?

That is of course if you happened to have a Mosque situated close to your house?
If one sprang up close by and it was audible, I'd be annoyed, we have a lot of Mosques in my town and I personally have never heard the call in all my years.
I like the way the report has published a map showing Stoke. Just in case no one knows where it might be. :-)
I would welcome such a van and such music with open arms, I love 'Jerusalem' and I think the police were wrong, but I am afraid that is the norm these days ...
