Damn complex this leaving lark, ain't it.
He said " not throw in the towel "
Question Author
yes but what would constitute throwing in the towel or not?
He means that he hopes the HoL will frustrate the implementation of many of the leaving the EU procedures being placed before it in the coming months.

But you probably already knew that, didn't you.....?
I wouldn't be too sure JTH.
He did......he admits as much.
He just wanted a different peg upon which to hang his usual 'Brexit/sgs/' obsessional postings...

That's why I said: "I assume he's hoping the Lords will thwart the democratic will of the majority." in the actual question jack. I'd hoped that perhaps that a doubly disgraced ex minister would not ultimately be so blatantly anti democratic. Still nothing surprises me from the SGB.
Why on earth has he been dragged out of the cupboard? I know Labour are desperate these days, but surely not that desperate.
Wasn't SBG the name of Vyvyan's pet rat in The Young Ones?
I watched that interview and Mandelson very clearly and unequivocally stated that he House of Conmons must have the final say over the Lords as that is the elected body.
I find it extraordinary that Liz Truss thinks these are 'yesterday's battles' The terms of Brexit?? Rather relevant and important I'd say.
I suspect she may soon be yesterday's justice secretary :-)
I rest my case......:o)
Liz 'new pork markets' Truss. What a gal.
What with Blair and now Mandelson, I'm beginning to think that UKIP will win Stoke. Before this week I would have said that the Tories would sneak it. He does say that the House of Commons must prevail over the Lords - so why on Earth bother making that speech (unless it's an anti-Corbyn ploy)?
ZM, the young ones rat was called SPG, after a rather notorious (at the time) branch of the police service...
Ah yes, Special Patrol Group.
Serious point of order:

Vivian's pet, SPG, was a hamster, not a rat.
You been listening to Manuel from Fawlty Towers? ;-)
Do you mean'Labour' sneak it db(!!)
If the Tories win Stoke all the other parties may as well give up now :-)
To be honest I can't really see what Mandelson said that was so controversial. He's just a face that sends some people into meltdown
Trustless Tony and Makeshift Mandelson... Who next is going to try and stop the democratic decision of UK folk to leave the EU. The House of Lords cannot overturn decisions of the House of Commons.

Hans.
*** Boris and Make it up May! The house of Lords can overturn decisions
of the House of Commons!

Fritz.
