Exactly, emmie - the fault lies entirely with him.
I rather wish that he hadn't been given the dignity of an identity, just be an anonymous person that can't be martyred by lunatics.

Garaman, I’m talking about geographical boundaries. I wrote something like this yesterday. The madmen of Islam do not ‘do’ countries, or boundaries, or patriotism. They are not British or French or German or Syrian, or Pakistanis, or Moroccan. Wherever they live in the world and wherever they were born, first and foremost they are Islamists.
I am talking about geographical boundaries as well, Naomi. I wouldn't expect a religion to be restricted to one or more countries. I am not sure why you have switched to the 'madmen of Islam', I was just referring to the religion (though I accept you see it as more than that).
The fact this man is British born, and not linked to any terrorist organisation, and the reasons for his actions are, at the time of writing unknown - does that rather punch holes in the knee-jerk reaction that he must be an immigrant terrorist, which is the bandwagon the usual suspects would jump on - if they had ever jumped of it in the first place?
