Surely even for those who don't support Alexander Blackman must agree he has been in prison long enough.

It's a shame that he couldn't be let out now with the paperwork/admin to follow...

There has been many 'Marine A' threads in during your absence, I'm sure everyone on this thread knows what transpired, Kvalidir. This thread wasn't posted to go over old ground once again.

So, clearly the man was no immediate threat, but doubtless would have killed them had he got the chance
-----------
Have a go at watching the Panorama programme too, kvalidir.
From it you'll discover that as he was near death it was neither feasible nor prudent to risk the lives of more British Servicemen by calling a MERT for an insurgent who wasn't much longer for this world.
Sgt Blackman acted in the best interests of all concerned by delivering the coup de grace with minimum fuss and zero celebration, it was all very matter of fact.

Excellent post, Deskdiary.
Talbot- 'There have been many 'Marine A' threads in during your absence, I'm sure everyone on this thread knows what transpired, Kvalidir. This thread wasn't posted to go over old ground once again.'

Well you'd never know half the people on this thread knew what they were talking about from some of the comments made - which was exactly my point- and I couldn't give a stuff why you posted it, as always the OP has no control over the direction of a thread, and as ever on this site it doesn't matter WHAT someone says only WHO says it, as I was ostensibly agreeing with you, or didn't you notice in your fervour to assume I wasn't?
Frankly I couldn't be more sorry not sorry.
Desk diary well you have a fan in Talbot!!

MMcG has not stood trial for any form of murder or manslaughter, Marine 'A' was originally convicted of murder and then this apparent mental health issue came out of no where and got it reduced to manslaughter.
In my opinion it should never have been over turned - Marine A was perfectly able to tell his fellow soldiers that he was breaking the Geneva Convention.
As I have said before several of my family are forces and they are disgusted that this man is being treated like a hero!
------------
Given your stance on this and the McGuinness thread I'll stick my neck out and say that's utter Horlicks and take it with a slack handful of salt.

Though when you say 'forces' do you mean actually mean HM Forces? Just saying......

I do not appreciate being called a liar!!

///mental health issue came out of no where//

The Mental Health Issue was there from the beginning but for some reason was disallowed as evidence at the original trial.

Check your facts.

A fan?
?
Bizarre ... if Deskdiary post something I disagree with then I will let him know. Surely a fan wouldn't do that?
I have posted several times on here my families long association with HM Forces I do not intend to do so again.
I am not a liar I do not appreciate if being inferred that I am one.

Check out 13: 58, ^^^, not a liar, just got your facts wrong.
Baldric my response is to divebuddy and chilldoubt.
Do keep up!

Thought you might be pleased that someone was agreeing you were not a liar

We all make mistakes!
Really glad he'll be out soon. I don't give a stuff about the 'insurgent' ! (Cue do-gooders and pc brigade ...)
if one was in his position at the time, under extreme pressure with hostiles all around, and thinking this maybe you last day on earth.
what would you have done, he put the insurgent down out of his misery, he was mercied in my op, in my op he should never have been jailed.
/// If this was my thread, I'd give you BA for that point alone. ///

Steady on he's not 12 yet. :0)
^^ now that deserves a BA.
ChillDoubt

Your Nelson and Hardy exchange would make for a very humorous TV series.

Your script was brilliant and just about sums up the state we are now in.

It is a very funny exchange, it's been doing the rounds of websites for a good few years.
