Would You Be Happy To Pay More For Your Takeaway Coffee

Reminds me of toddlers with a bottle or sippy cup.

Takeaway coffee should be cheaper as it isn't needing the coffee shop to supply tables/chairs/etc. Disposable cups should be biodegradable in time; and made from sustainable resources. Dealing with them should be cheaper than having to wash chine mugs in hot water and washing up liquid. Few are going to carry around their own mug with them, office workers with a shop on site maybe. And some fanatics. I see this as another daft attempt to extract money from the public. It's amazing what those with the power to grab money find to achieve that.
Ummm...all this recycling is very confusing !
To answer the OP, if an extra penny were to be charged for every hot drink, my best guess is that it wouldn't effect the numbers sold one little bit.
Takeaway food and drink is here to stay and its not going away any time soon
Perhaps its time for the recycling companies to get their heads together on this one, and find a way to deal with this problem.

There is a solution, it's mentioned near the end of the article, Martin Myerscough has invented a cup that is totally recyclable. However Starbucks said they were 'interested' and the other companies have said they're looking into it. In other words if it affects their profits too much they will ignore it.
"...bhg - some people are very short of time."
No. Some people are too busy fannying about with things like TwitFace, playing on X-Boxes and the like to ensure they feed and water themselves properly. It's their choice - they must do what they like with their time. But they are not short of it to the degree that they have to at and drink whilst walking along the street or on a bus. I would defy anybody to demonstrate that they do not have ten minutes in their day to sit down and drink a cup of coffee.
