Maybe I was on the wrong thread. Same old same old on both, so easily done
Of course it may be that the short article doesn't really do the study justice. On the face of it the authors are contradicting themselves: on the one hand it is not "partisan media bias" affecting the toleraint minds of the kiwis, but on the other hand "The media, regardless of politics, tend to publish violent stories because violence sells."
The long and the short of it is: negative publicity reduces sales. Hands up who could not have told them that at the start :-)
andy-hughes, rather than beat about the bush with lengthy posts wouldn't it be easier to answer Talbot's question? It only needs a 'yes' or 'no'. Just an idea.
andy-hughes, //I would not expect any Muslim to draw attention to himself in front of his peers and the Imams. //

Ah, they're all play acting for effect. Righto.
Naomi - //andy-hughes, rather than beat about the bush with lengthy posts wouldn't it be easier to answer Talbot's question? It only needs a 'yes' or 'no'. Just an idea. //

As you rather haughtily informed me a couple of days ago - I'll post what I wish, when I wish, and as long as I wish.

Let's have an even playing field shall we?
Naomi - //andy-hughes, //I would not expect any Muslim to draw attention to himself in front of his peers and the Imams. //

Ah, they're all play acting for effect. Righto. //

Is Talbot giving you lessons?

I did not say they are 'playing for effect' - please don't put words in my mouth.
AH
so you think they put their hands up to save face, oh come on. What concerns me is what looks like a lone woman wearing a headscarf, if they believe in separation of the sexes what is she doing there.
andy-hughes, //As you rather haughtily informed me a couple of days ago - I'll post what I wish, when I wish, and as long as I wish. //

I didn't say that - haughtily or otherwise.

As for your reluctance to answer Talbot's very reasonable question, the reader must draw his or her own conclusions. :o)
emmie, I wondered if he was a cross-dresser. ;o)
I can't spot a woman, emmie.

In fairness to andy, he is obviously not the only ABer that is too cowardly to answer the question.

I get a lot of these video links from either Muslim or ex Muslim women. They come out with some cracking put downs when some numpty decides to give them some abuse.
not in that crowd of misogynists.
I just watched it again Emmie. I don't think it is a woman. No woman sits with legs askew like that. That's a bloke thing.
looks like a bloke wearing a headscarf
I think it is.
so they believe in stoning, separation of the sexes etc and yet are considered moderates, dear me.
emmie, as I said, they have no option. The literature it comes from is beyond criticism.
Talbot, I don't ignore your question because I am 'frightened' or 'cowardly', I ignore them because I am sick of you following me round thread to thread, section to section, looking for an argument, preferably personal and off-topic, so I am ignoring you in the fervent hope that you will find someone else to play your tedious games, with, and I can get on with exchanging views and information with people who want to do that, not you who wants to fight all day every day.

I don;t want to answer your questions, I don't want to debate with you, I'd prefer it if you just ignored me.
O' dear.

/// So maybe they felt compelled to put their hands up regardless of what they actually felt ///

Ah!! as some of us suspected, they are very easily lead, just like a certain self confessed atheist, who is lead to church, so as to sing hymns in mass every week, before being lead up to the alter for a blessing.
AOG - Andy's wife is Catholic, he accompanies her to mass, and goes through the ritual out of respect for his wife!!
