He does look foolish. My mother is a born again Christian, if I go to stay with her I will accompany her to her church. It's respect for what other people believe in and being part of it.
I'm an atheist...would I be a hypocrite for attending Catholic funerals and sitting through their rituals as most of the people I know are Catholics?
We do things asked of us out of love and respect for the people asking. If my mum asked me to attend church with her I'd say yes as quickly as if she asked if I wanted a stroll down the beach.

ummmm - Thank you. I am glad someone else knows that sometimes doing something against your beliefs is not 'hypocracy' - it's joining someone you love in something that is important to them - and that is part of loving them.
It doesn't take ten years off my life to stand in front of a priest and be blessed, so I am quite happy to go along and do it.
Rather that than be a stuffy stroppy 'principled' man who sits at home alone while his wife goes to church alone - I think my way is better any day.
