annea - with Macron in power there is absolutely no chance of a resolved settlement with the EU. He will push everything against us (including the border). In a way, it simplifies things - we assume 'no deal' and can act accordingly. Mrs. M. must now act accordingly.
Macron's been quite lucky. He left the previous administration just in time, saw the socialists collapse, the republicans shoot themselves in the foot by picking Fillon, when they should have gone for Alain Juppe, and ended up in a run-off against a frankly unelectable opponent. She did worse than expected and i wonder if the events of Friday, as well as her disastrous election debate, had some effect
This is great news and an enormous relief for Merkel, along with Jean Paul Junker and the rest of the Brussels racket, a welcome opportunity to kick the can down the road for a bit longer, by which time they will all be nicely retired on enormous pensions and Europe will be shafted.
Best result we could have. This will mean the UK will have no choice but to just walk away from the EU with no 'deals', just as we should.
France however is most likely shafted. Let's see what happens when they have the election for the MP's, at present he has no backing that could leave him weak and exposed. Not good for anyone.
Well as I have already said, we won the last one, but then we possessed a much greater pride in our nation, than the vast number of anti-British we now accommodate in our country do now.
