For raising the security threat to critical. AFTER the terror attack here in Manchester. Thank you for allowing this terrorist to carry out murder when your wonderful security forces already knew what he was planning. Thank you.

Krom, Right. Suggestions from those who do have thoughts on how we may possibly combat it are often shot down by people with nothing else to offer.

So what?

Am I obliged to have a half-baked back-of-the-envelope solution to a massive, complicated problem? Is that our equivalent to an AB membership card?

I don't feel ashamed for admitting I don't know what to do. Main reason I don't is that none of the solutions people keep coming out with seem convincing or well thought-out.
Krom, you're not obliged to do or to have anything.
it will continue untill people start to wake up to the ral problem which is islam.

islamic extremists will make the IRA war / bombings in warrington - brighton - canary wharf look like a walk in the park. islam is now bringing france and britain and the rest of the world to its knees . norway sweden rape epidemic, uk grooming gangs go untouched. muslim extremists are causing problems all over the world in most countries all in the name of islam. just last week i was in thailand there in the pattani province of south thailand 1000,s are killed by muslims, monks and primary school children beheaded but the mainstream media dont tell us .
The security threat has been raised from severe to critical BECAUSE of the terror attack in Manchester, and what its nature revealed. A complex bomb probably had group help to construct and deliver, which means that other members of the(probable group could be still at large and another attack could be imminent - likely enough, combined with other information, to raise the threat level.

Critical is the highest state, not a default state. The last time we were at critical was ten years ago, for 4 days. The only time before that was eleven years ago, for 3 days, just after the system of official threat levels was introduced.
We need a wider equivalent of COBRA where the greatest thinkers convene from around the world to discuss every aspect of Islam, terrorism, etc and draw up a battleplan.

It's a pity that some of these great thinkers and strategists are no longer alive...
It worries me when I see people posting things like 'what we need is banning flags'
Sorry but are your really so ignorant that you actually think 'banning flags' would have any positive benefit?
Similarly I see demands to 'lock all terrorist sympathisers up without trial' this was tried back in 1971 with the Irish terrorists , it was called 'Internment' and was a disastrous failure ( as it would be again) all it did was cause a huge increase in violence and increase sympathy for 'The Cause'
It was called 'Operation Demetrius '

Am I the only one on here to remember , how scared we were all were back then? It was far worse than it is now!
Interesting that the IRA has been mentioned, given the Libyan connection, the choice of Manchester and the use of a complex bomb in this case ...
I don't think we were all scared back then. We knew experiencing a tragedy was a possibility but also that it wasn't likely for any particular individual, so we all got on with our lives. There was no other reasonable course of action, or state of mind.
Oh and no one is on their knees save perhaps those who think they and others are.
^ or those who pray...

Yeah I agree- I would say
Am I obliged to have a half-ossed suggestion ( solution is too strong a word) to these problems because everyone else does ?

So I then have to listen day after day to suggestions like
“Yeah cut their hanz off and pack them back to Pakia or whever pukies live innit ?”

[cue a thousand replies of “ woss wrong with packing that Lybian back to Pakia or wherever in Norf India? yeah]

Taking into consideration the atrocities carried out in the name of Islam, I can see no reason why Islam cannot be classed a banned organisation?
Banning flags hasn't worked in NI - they still fly them when they want!!
TMay is responding to proven flash points especially 'in house' gatherings, like concerts.

Military presence will assist police & security officials.

dear dear eddie Naomi has told you a thousand times there is no comparison between now and then - so please be told for chrissakes

(I gave her five (comparisons) and was called radicalised for my pains - I er reserve judgement on that one)
// Military presence will assist police & security officials.//

yeah but the army arent trained to do traffic duty,
direct little old ladies and investigate burglaries ....

I reckon promotion to "level one" was so that she could bring troops onto the streets without an act of parliament or order in council
AOG > can see no reason why Islam cannot be classed a banned organisation?

An interesting idea.

Problem is,we come back to the fear of being labelled 'racist' again and it would swell the ranks of those who wish to do us harm...
There is no way of implementing a "ban Islam" policy which does not result in mass internment.

There's about 1.6 million British-born Muslims in the UK - these people cannot be sent back to origin countries because it's not applicable. Furthermore, the total prison population at the moment is 85,000.

So... what happens to that 1.6 million when they inevitably get caught for the crime of being a Muslim?

Well, our prisons can't take them as they are already under strain, so at that point there's no other option but to build some open-air facilities capable of housing them...

You see where this ends, don't you? There is no method of banning Islam in the UK I can think of which does not end up there. Or worse.
