The Conservative Party's former chief strategist, Steve Hilton, has called on Theresa May to resign over cuts to police and security services.
This also comes at a time when a former chief inspector for the Met and by the former head of special branch in Belfast have both slammed May's cuts to the services as damaging Britain's security:

I mean, obviously she isn't going to resign. But do you think it's fair to hold May to task for this failure?

somehow I keep reading that these attackers are known to the police, they've been reported by neighbours or fellow Muslims (just as everyone insists they should be) for radicalising kids ... and yet nothing happens. Nonetheless, all May's fanboys insist that this couldn't possibly be anything to do with the Home Secretary, who has what is laughingly...

TTT....I have already your question. Nobody can know for sure, not even you.
This is getting bizarre. If Labour had been in power for the last years, and they had sacked 20,000 Police, people like you would have been up in arms, waving your copies of the DM, and criticising the Party, and quite rightly so.
But now its a Tory ex-Home Sec and present PM in place, suddenly we don't need as many Police after all !
Amazing !
But the British public will decided....more Police or less Police...its a simple choice.

There would never be enough police or security personnel to stop all these attacks before they happened.
If there were we would be a police state. Is that what the left want? A police state? Considering Corbyn has voted against every anti terror law there has been it beggars belief that that is what he wants!!
There are thousands of 'knowns'. I believe 3000 has been quoted on here. Would they get a security officer each? That would be the only way to truly keep tabs on them. How about one officer to every 10 knowns! Would that be too many for them to cope with? How about 50 knowns to every security officer! Would that be too many? What about backup? And all the admin staff needed? Then of course you'd need more as more people came under surveillance.
The number grows exponentially.
Blaming the side you don't like for failures when your own side would not have made a better job of it is actually quite normal, especially so on election week.

The police, security forces, etc. can't prevent all attacks. Some will get through. Maybe the more officers we have, the fewer attacks will get through ... who knows? Where does the role of MI5 stop and the police start? It's difficult to predict and stop a "man in van with knife" attack unless we resort to internment.
Given the attack on Saturday, the three offenders were dead within 8 minutes of the first 999 call. Everybody seems impressed by this. But presumably the argument is that it could have been even quicker if we had more officers?

Kromovaracn - // So the fact that all perpetrators of the three recent terror attacks were known to the police beforehand after being reported by their peers does not suggest to you that there may be a problem? //
Unusual to see you falling foul of the 'So ... ' Rule, but there we are.
Being 'known' to the police is not a crime, so you can't arrest someone for what you think they might be about to do - so it doesn't matter if a million police officers 'know' a millions suspects, it isn't going to stop these attacks from happening.

don't listen to me kromo, listen to Andy: "so it doesn't matter if a million police officers 'know' a millions suspects, it isn't going to stop these attacks from happening. " what I have been saying on this thread all along. You've been politicking and been found wanting. You know as well as I do these loonies don't care what security there is. The best we can do was ably demonstrated in 8 minutes flat, be grateful for the speed they sorted it.

Ok, on the one hand we have the following people who think police cuts have in general harmed our security:
Peter Kirkham, retired met chief inspector
Jim Gamble, retired head of special Branch in Belfast
Cressida Dick, of the Metropolitan Police
And the people who (apparently) think it doesn't have any effect on the basis that it is impossible to stop a particular random knife attack:
You
Jackdaw
Who should I believe? Which of the two do you think looks more convincing to me?
