To be honest all, I can hardly be bothered for now. I spent 16 hours yesterday in a polling station doing the clerking and am crunched. But one thing for sure, I could have told you by 12noon that something big was happening. Yes Smowy....Labour had too big a battle to win in one election, just as the Tories could win after 1997. But on the strength of this evening, they have a very real chance of winning next time.

And if the Tories continue to do badly, that next time may come quicker than we think.
