Actually Hans, as a practising atheist, prayers do nothing for me. But praying seems to help many people in coming to terms with tragedy, and if it does, it can't do any harm I suppose !
I wonder why she doesn't seek out her local vicar....it looks a bit like showing off to me...but then I often get the wrong end of the stick. Of course if you have a faith it is then possible to blame it all on god's will ...... However it is a harmless activity usually and does no harm to others and may make her feel better.....
The Houses of Parliament’s “parish” church is St Margarets which is the parish part of Westminster Abbey...which I believe is the Archbish’s seat.....so yes, in a way he is her vicar.
She has been massively criticised for not doing what could be construed as showing off - turning up at Grenfell Tower and hugging people for example. She is a human being and must be going through hell. Agree with scooping, this is none of our business.
if a few words with whichever God you may or may not follow helps to give comfort and hope then I fail to see why it would be a waste of time...as a Catholic the power of prayer and its healing powers , however imagined they may have been, has helped me through some very dark times of late...
My question is....."What is the point of prayers"?.
I have also said....."Prayer session are a complete waste of time".
However, no one appears to be trying to convince me that there is a real point in praying; especially to a supposed God that allowed the Grenfell Tower disaster, and the recent Terroist attacks.
