Was this on LBC?
I saw reports in the Independent, Telegraph and the Guardian, and no attempted lynching was mentioned. All I read was that he was detained until police arrived, which in the circumstances was absolutely the correct thing to do.

"The police were quick to announce that they are classing it as a Far-Right terrorist attack"
I can only find references to the Met referring to this as a 'terror attack' (see below).
This is the full statement. Can anyone verify the 'Far Right terrorist attack' angle.
Was this simply some random person phoning into LBC?

You raise a good point. But I think the border between murderer and terrorist is very blurred.
If someone with links to Al Qaeda or IS hires a van and mows down innocent people, I think we can all agree he is a terrorist.
However, if someone with no proven links to a terrorist organisation does the same, perhaps they should simply be regarded as murderers.
That would put this (alleged) murderer in the same category as the murderer of Jo Cox.

Mikey,\\\AOG..I still cannot see any reference to the attempted lynching of the driver\\\
AOG///I can only go on what I heard on LBC radio news, early this morning, both attempted lynching and the Far-Right association was mentioned.
If all mention of them have now been removed for PC reasons, that is all part and parcel of the course these days///.
Radio Mikey, the answer was there all along. Tricky thing to see is the Spoken Word.
I am just amazed they didnt try to lynch them
unlike this account of a rough pub with even rougher punters ( non terrorist lynching)
"TWO hitmen from Moss Side were shot dead when their mission to execute someone at a Salford pub ended in disaster, a court heard."

The street story is even better
two armed men went into a pub - the Brass Handles - their arms were taken off them and used to kill them. Bodies dumped outside on the green and ner ner when the police finally came, the punters said: " we know nothing about that officer - we were inside drinking"

# Years ago, on here, I said this will happen and was dismissed as stupid. #
I remember a few posters. who said that Ummmm, and some were deleted, including mine!
#Unusually, I totally agree with YMB, I don't think this is a terror incident, and to hype is not helpful #
I dont think its a terrorist attack either Gromit, more likely a revenge attack!!!
