If there were genuine security fears then Yes, I see no problem with it at all.
Better safe than sorry imo.
Difficult to answer without knowing all the facts. Poor girl though if she genuinely wasn’t involved.
Like baldric...better safe than sorry.
Her sacking follows the result of an "internal investigation" of which i have no knowledge.
So yes.......I will support the decision of the company.
//There is no suggestion Haleema Butt or Usman Darr are extremists or knew what Butt was planning.//
Would like to know what reason was given for the sacking. It would seem that they have been found guilty by association.

I agree with Sqad.
Maybe she was sacked 'cos she couldn't actually do the job she was employed to do?
She's been investigated by her employer who has found it necessary to let her go.

This stuff even happens to people with no connection to terrorism, you know, ordinary folk who don't do their job properly or whatever.

On balance I suppose Heathrow are pretty sure of their position and aren't leaving themselves open to being sued for wrongful dismissal.
They only have her word for it that she didn't know what he was planning. Who would take the risk?
If she was sacked for wrong doing fair enough - if she was sack because of what her brother did that is not on and an employment tribunal will follow shortly I would imagine!
Why mostly about her? her husband was also sacked.

But there must have been a particular security issue for their sackings.
As she has been in her job for a little over 4 months, they can get rid of her with relative inpunity and not face a case for unfair dismissal.

Obviously we will probably never know the reason for her dismissal but if it was related to her brother I have no doubt that the airport authorities will be able to justify it. On the other hand, I cant help feeling sorry for her if it is the case that she is appalled at her sibling's acts and she will probably be tarred with the same brush for years if not forever.
They'll have it covered. We don't know what info the investigation found.

If she's innocent, and I suspect she is, her murdering brother has ruined her life!

Doesn't actually say he was sacked

///Her husband, Usman Darr, who also worked on security, was suspended as well///

Unless, of course, you've seen it elsewhere?

Did he/she/they go running to the papers about this?

I'm hopeful (perhaps naively) that background checks are run before they employ people.
If the background checks aren't stringent enough, then they should tighten that up, and pronto.
Alba when i worked airside I had to be deep vetted but I am not sure if they still use that process as it is very costly and time consuming!
Pointless arguing about it. You can be sacked from a job any time in the first 2 years and the employer does not even have to give a reason.
The employer would have had so much negative publicity if they had continued to employ her that although I don't agree with it , I can't see they had much choice.
I'm just imagining the outcry on AB if word got out that she had a job at Heathrow!!
ummmm

/// If she's innocent, and I suspect she is, ///

And how can you possible know that?
My OH had to work on a RAF base. He had to list every misdemeanor that had ever happened in his whole life. Airports should be the same in this current climate.
Islay, you'll love this (I hope!)
Mr Alba was being vetted for a construction job at a defence place, one of the questions in the form was along the lines of
'do you know or have any relatives who are terrorists?'

btw, Mr Alba wasn't even anywhere near Defence stuff, it was just to build a new office
