“…wander to somewhere along the route of the march. You'll both be very welcome and have an excellent time. :o)” Two or three years ago I was unfortunate enough to be “somewhere along the route of the march”, not wandering but trying to go about my business. I’m not sure whether or not I was welcome (I would like to hope I was not). This was because my...

To be fair to Old_Geezer he like anyone else is allowed to hold his own opinions on certain matters, just as we all are.

Just because they happen to different from your own is no reason for his opinions to be lambasted.

I have no opposition towards gays, although I oppose gay marriages, but whatever our differences events such as this are not going to alter our own personal views, in fact I would go as far to say they only alienate them further.

For example say it happened to be a march by say the EDL, would that alter your own personal feelings towards them?

Somehow I think not, excuse me while I catch up on them :-)

Of course he's allowed to hold his opinions.

But you're absolutely wrong that his opinions shouldn't be challenged, or even lambasted, if they are wrong, or ill-mannered, or disrespectful. And remember it's his opinions we are attacking, not him.
So...it's okay to be gay as long as we are gay to suit you, AOG?...x
It's okay to be anything, as long as it doesn't interfere with the lives of others.
Homophobes don't need to worry, homosexuality is not likely to become compulsory in the near future. Ever heard of live and let live? Pride is at least to some extent paid for by commercial sponsors, must be good for business? I once watched Pride in London, very joyful and colourful. It's a party, a celebration, people having a good time. Weirdly, I didn't feel threatened or inconvenienced, and certainly not cross.

/// OK AOG I am probably more English than you are!
Just because I was not born
here! ///

Do you actually read what you put?

How can you possibly be more English than I am, since I am English born and bred?

/// You are a special kind of person to keep throwing 'flaws' in peoples faces - because I was not born here you view me as a second class citizen. ///

I have never viewed you as a second class citizen, I throw flaws at you because you simply keep on supplying them to me.

You must learn to get rid of that enormous chip on your shoulder and feel proud what your nationality is, whatever that may be, even so your parents chose to bring you to a foreign country.

You should also now feel equally proud that they chose the UK, and England in particular if that is where you now reside.

Oh AOG you really are a first class prig - I can trace and have traced by English side of the family back so far it would make your hair curl!
You chose to jump to the conclusion that I was foreign because I was born abroad - well you are a complete prig!
Have we stopped talking about painted faces and lots of dancing then?

/// And remember it's his opinions we are attacking, not him. ///

And also remember that you are attacking his opinions, because they differ from yours.
Well, yes. Wouldn't make much sense to attack opinions that are identical to mine, would it?
ANOTHEOLDGIT, is your nationality not British?
I'm sure there's a Strictly thread somewhere, mamya
