Pretty sure that Trump's definition of a good trade deal will be one that's good for the US, not good for the UK. Still, may as well wait to see how that deal pans out. As I understand it we can't technically agree one properly for two years anyway, being still in the EU.

And what exactly would Trump know? He barely has any control over Washington and doesn't understand anything about what he does control. You can't trust a word he says. And on top of all that there is a very real chance he is going to be impeached and gone before the Brexit negotiations end. Not much consolation.

quite so, jim - Trump's main ability (one of not many) is as a negotiator. He won't be seeking a trade deal that's good for Britain. He's made his America-first policy explicit since well before he was elected.
