I take that as read. As for the clothes, I’m simply trying to comprehend how pretending to yourself and to other people that you’re something you’re not helps your situation. However, I respect your decision not to discuss it further …. not that that goes any way to promoting understanding.

It's an interesting point, although on the face of it doesn't that tie being "female" specifically to the biological? And then the entire point of gender identity is that gender isn't necessarily linked to biological sex, even if the two correspond more often than not.
If, then, you don't mind my asking, what does it mean to you to be "female"?

If I am understanding you from the previous page correctly though, pixie, you said that "there always used to be a difference between 'sex' and 'gender'. One was how you were born and one was psychological."
It seems to me that the definition you, and Naomi, are giving is that "female" is sex, ie biology. Does that not leave gender/psychology as a separate thing (at least, a potentially separate thing?)
And it's the fact that they aren't universally linked, and the suggestion that gender roles are largely a social construct rather than a biological necessity, that leads to transgenderism. For most people it will never be an issue; for some their biology and their mentality aren't aligned so 'neatly'.
