Imagine if a man had done this on the tube, a bus or in a nightclub, he would be before a judge before you could blink.

The police were so scared of upsetting people they didn't dare arrest him for fear of starting a riot.

That's just how I imagined a London bobby would act, grabbing as many random women as he can and rubbing himself against them in a good natured semi-erect kinda way. Makes ya proud.

High spirits Mikey? Like a dog humping your leg?

My favourite of all the high spirits.
I do hate it when posters propose a best answer

Tilly2 ... and if someone did that to me, I would endeavor to smash his face in.

Best answer for Tilly.

a slightly annoying idiot rubbing his crotch into you, so if a slightly annoying man did this to you on the bus or tube, standing in a queue you would think "its a bit annoying".
Webbo......"The police were so scared of upsetting people they didn't dare arrest him for fear of starting a riot"

I can't see any evidence of that at all.....not even a little bit.
I would... I wouldn't feel threatened by it in public.
webbo - // Andy Hughes.
this is from an old thread, it seems you agree that a man shouldn't put his hands on any woman he fancies.

It harks back to Dave Lee Travis's defence - 'I am a cuddly tactile person ...'.

http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question1416123-2.html

\\That's fine, but it doesn't give you carte blanche to put your hands on any woman you take a fancy to, and expect her to enjoy it because you are the cuddly Hairy Cornflake.//

Interesting that you remember, and found that particular comment webbo - and I absolutely stand by what I said.

If you can find common ground between a man using his celebrity to behave inappropriately on multiple occasions because he thinks him being a celebrity means that every woman will want him crawling all over them - and a few seconds' incident with a drunken reveller and a professional police officer, then I can't.

The two situations are not remotely comparable, you are clutching at vanishing straws to make this incident into something it isn't.
Talbot. Fair cop ;-)

But at least we now have an understanding of the situation in that it wasn't an isolated incident within the atmosphere of NHC.
webbo - // Andy,

\\but while he is only joking around, she is willing to tolerate it. //

because the police are outnumbered and dont want to start a riot. //

That is an assumption your part, with absolutely no evidence to support it.

Why are you trying to see something that simply isn't there?
You only have to focus on the officers left hand to know how she is feeling about this incident.

Watch it and then come back and disagree

Maybe try a little harder then.
I might not feel threatened as there were other people around but I would find it highly offensive. If he didn't stop when I asked I would bring my knee up as hard as I could and see how he liked that.

That's not the situation though - is it?

This is not a man on a bus or a tube, and this is not a woman being assaulted - it is a reveller at NHC, having a bit of fun with a police officer, who is accepting it for what it is.

You cannot completely change the setting, the participants, the intent and the perceived reaction, and then say it is comparable.

How I can try and see something that patently does not exist!

If this officer felt she was being assaulted, or in any way uncomfortable, she would have been using her hands to fend the man off, not putting her hat back on, and she would have been looking pretty angry, not laughing.

Are you sure you are looking at the same clip as I am?

its still an uninvited sexual advance andy.
There will be some police, male and female who will be comfortable with this sort of behaviour but some like this woman are not.

She did not enjoy that one bit but the police are under pressure to put on a happy smiley face at the carnival ... elsewhere I think she would have had him in a headlock.
ladybirder - //I might not feel threatened as there were other people around but I would find it highly offensive. If he didn't stop when I asked I would bring my knee up as hard as I could and see how he liked that. //

And no argument there.

But the whole point is, this is NHC, and as in any large party gathering, a little joshing with police goes on, and the police expect and accept it, and this is all that was going on here.

Some posters seem determined to see this as something it clearly isn't, for reasons I cannot fathom.
Knee in't goolies time!
webbo - //its still an uninvited sexual advance andy. //

Well I am sure that if the officer concerned knew you were getting your trollies in a robble over it, she may well say that she didn't see it that way - and clearly she didn't - so why on earth do you?
