I know this has probably been discussed before, but I really thought this would have ended by now. Your thoughts please?

that is irrelevant and for the record when in that position said toddlers were not left alone at ANY time...
I agree with Nomercy 100%.

You can pay credence to the conspiracy theorists Prudie, but I won't.
conspiracy or not .. and there are many schools of thought on that matter..I am more iclined to go with Sqad.... the child would NEVER have been abducted had all three of their very young offspring been left alone and unsupervised..
NOT ^^^
and that ^^^ is a fact not an opinion !
It is relevant.

You say a family holiday should be inclusive but the fact is after a day of playing and splashing about they are usually asleep early.
then a siesta and a suitable dining time for all is arranged
picnic style meals with food purchased from a local market place or from restaurants take away facility, for earlyish consumption either back at base or eating areas with seating etc was always available or better still , self catering accommodation for young family was always the preferred option...
Lol...It doesn't work like that.
indeed it did and still does !
suitability for the entire family's needs should be a priority on booking holidays hence self catering for very young was always better
holidaying with another family in similar circs where baby sitting could be shared for a night out or two without parental responsibility was always the best...
Not all child friendly resorts have self catering.
then you look for a place that does !
I am truly humbled by all these paragons of virtue who can tailor the holidays of everyone else......

The world and his wife will be far more aware of making sure that they put in place more robust plans for holiday child-care since Madeline was abducted. And it's now very easy to back-project those ideas and claim that " I/we never would have....." when that is probably NOT the case.
I speak only for myself and my own priorities for a "family" holiday !
No, you don't.

You are telling everyone else how they should construct their holidays...
I've mentioned this before on a similar thread, but I might as well repeat it here.
I've left my child alone in a hotel room in the evening to go and have a drink, food or quick late-night swim. I did exactly what the McCanns did and checked on him every half hour. I don't consider myself a neglectful parent.
^^and nor does he.
I am doing no such thing JTH.. only stating what my priorities and experiences are...and were...
