Is dressing up an 8 year old transgender boy as a girl, only going to solve the issue for a short time? Would it be better to have a sex change operation now, or later in life?
The results of treatment were pretty terrible thirty years ago
and now we are told it was All Wrong
and we should do it different - I would be inclined to leave it to the experts - as there are some seriously possed off trans gender people out there all saying that whatever the doctors did - it was the Wrong Thing and their lives were wrecked as a result
JJ - there are twin boys attending a school in which my great-nephew attends. One goes as the boy and other goes in dressed like a girl with the pony tails.
I just think how can a young kid of that age possibly know what they want.
An operation should only take place for an adult, otherwise you will be in the position of parents 'changing' their childs sex to satisfy their own needs/beliefs.
No sex change now. I saw a little boy in the supermarket with long blond hair and a tiara. I wasn't sure if it was a boy or girl TBH, but so what. Let them be what they want. No surgery yet though.
My son used to like tottering around in my high-heeled shoes, and I have to admit - sorry, Jim - that I was a tiny bit worried about him. He's now a man in flat shoes.
As stated in the article, it *can't* happen now. She will be closely monitored over the next 10 years, and she has to go through puberty first. Maybe she will change her mind, or realise this is not right for her. But she'll also have the time to adapt, and for others to accept. Luckily she seems to have a good support network.
