… or are they ignorant of the law?

The Labour Party is distributing a video as part of its campaign to give 16-year-olds across the UK the right to vote and says “You’re 16. Now you can get married, join the army, work full time”…. but you can only join the Army aged 16 or 17 with your parents' permission. At that age you also need your parents' permission to get married unless you do so in Scotland. Since 2013, 16- and 17-year-olds cannot work full-time in England, but can in the other three home nations with some restrictions.

Nice idea for them to attempt to generate more votes from the naïve, but a reality check for them – and for those who cling to their every word - here.

So is that a justification for telling an untruth mikey or are you trying to divert atention from the main point of the thread?

10ClarionStreet, you too are avoiding the question.

Full time education generally extends to 18 now though 10CS
^AT least in England, which accounts for the large majority of the population. That has been the case for some time

10ClarionSt at 09:40, I'm saying none of that. I'm asking a question - one that you and Mikey consistently refuse to answer. Just as well that other staunch Labour supporter, Gulliver, has given her two-pennyworth - albeit inadvertently.
Interesting to see how the lefties are using all sorts of diverive tactics and refusing to answer direct questions, including the OP !!
I have 4 children, intelligent children, the best children.

Should they be allowed to vote?

no.
At 16 ... of course.
Yes, clearly the video is is rowlocks and drivel.
I did see that earlier. Yesterday I think. It's moronic.

You can't get married unless you get permission because kids of that age are not expected to be able to make good life decisions so it needs checking. They can vote as long as I can check that they have had the sense to tick the right box.

You may join the army as your job, but to the best of my knowledge you won't be on the front line. Besides you have to follow orders not think and do your own thing.

You may work full time, as you will not be a kid for many more years and so can be introduced into the world of adulthood, but don't expect to be put into a position where you make important decisons until you have gained experience.
And no, I don't keep up with the law either. They make changes and introduce new restrictions; only a legal eagle is going to keep up with the drivel the government passes.
Boris and Farage didn't mislead anyone nor lead anyone up any garden path with the Brexit referendum. I do recall their critics claiming in effect that the world would fall apart for the UK if we voted Brexit, and never admitting it was deliberate propaganda nonsense when it didn't occur.
Specific to the OP question, I suspect someone thought they knew the situation and didn't check it properly. Maybe didn't pass it across their boss for permission. It happens, and then they get egg all over their face.
The only one that strikes me as a bit deceptive is the "work full time" point - the others are true with caveats, but they are still things that 16 year olds have the right to do. Seems like they wanted to meet the "rule of three" for soundbites and contrived a third thing.
Important relevant caveats though. Can't do it without an adult agreeing they, the child, personally, is capable of it.
in my opinion the age needs raising to 21.
