Clearly motoring is so cheap that the masses have personal private transport. Surely it's time to start charging by the mile/time of day for motorways.

No. Agree with Old G. Also TWR is quite correct re. benefits on the Continent. We used to go to Relais for a good meal out at cheap prices! Lorry drivers parked for free, showered and cleaned up for free and ate a darned good 4-course meal for very little - buffets usually included prawns, mixed seafood, rolls of stuffed ham - gosh, I can't remember all the rest - but they were always extensive.
Main courses were substantial and included steaks. Then cheese, then dessert. All (5yrs. ago) for 10 or 12 euros. Not making a particular point here, except that driving in UK is already expensive for them - be nice if we could have relais and aires. :(

TTT you have really excelled yourself this time!
Your post is arrogant, badly thought out , downright rude and insulting.
I hardly know where to start, but for a first point charging for use of motorways would result in two problems, far worse congestion on non motorways and a huge increase in the cost of living . Every thing we eat and buy has to be transported by road on motorways. Charging per mile would mean huge price increases.
I can hardly believe that you can actually say that road use should be made so expensive that only the rich can afford it.
I'll think of more reason to discount this ludicrous outburst soon and get back on here . Always assuming that this post has not been banned as it deserves to be!
