That's no great loss, look who made the cover in 1938.

When I saw the title of this question I thought it must be a typo. I mean, who names a child "Taylor". I thought that was somebody's surname, they'd been a bit quick and that the headline should have read "Swift Taylor pips Trump...", as in he or she has won some sort of race. So I thought I'd better have a look at the article. And there it was, among other women on the cover, somebody called "Taylor Swift". I've still no idea who she is or why her parents saw fit to have a laugh at her expense. Apparently she's described as a chanteuse of some sort. You live and learn. I've no idea who the others are either. "Person (or people) of the Year"? What a load of cobblers!
NJ...if you actually read the article, you could then educate yourself as to who these ladies are.
The award goes not just to these women but possibly dozens of others who broke what may have been long silences about abuse suffered.
It's a shame Gromit decided to focus on Taylor Swift...it detracts from the subject imo.

I didn't know who most of these ladies were, NJ but I did read the article, and more, so I knew what I was talking about...who they were and what they had done.....
I think they represent many women like me......
For almost fifty years, I kept quiet about the man who abused me until enough was enough and I plucked up the courage to tell the friends and family, who would talk about him in nice terms, just what sort of man he really was.....
Picking out a name to comment on when you could have found out so much more is rather like the reaction I received when, as a child, I tried to tell......look the other way and ignore what is not comfortable....x

I didn't pick out the name, gness. Gromit did. Without the name (which I mistakenly thought was an error) I would't have given the question a first, let alone a second look. I was just intrigued by the headline but have no interest in the content.
What you suffered is appalling but it should not be the justification for a second-rate American rag selling its copies by selecting victims of the same as their "people of the year".
