Attlee was not knighted; he became an earl. Peerages are given to senior cabinet members on retirement but some refuse them and so are offered knighthoods, like Heath, Major and, indeed, Churchill.

I am not sure what Scooping is on about here, as there is no analogy between Farage and Corbyn, but he thinks that there is. Actually, I rarely understand what Scooping is on about, about anything.
