since it's becoming increasingly accepted that gender is less about chromosomes, appearance or reproductive ability but more a matter of state of mind not necessarily requiring reassignment intervention (and the gender recognition act 2004 is likely to be amended to reflect this), are the "X-X" denizens of the Kenwood Ladies Pond Association being a tad unreasonable?

Are men sufferening genuiine discrimination due to the restricted access to this pool: I somehow doubt it.
I am sure there are individual cases worthy of exception, but I'd have thought that until you have actually changed gender then a mixed pool is particularly appropriate.

erm as an intellect Mushie - this was always the case innit ?
In Latin, mensa is feminine gender and agricola is masculine
NOT female sex and male sex
anyway you mushie know that I am not really - a "sex, wot dat den?" kinda fellow - so there is a legal case Corbett v Corbett where a judge Ormerod discusses all this - gender- chromosomes etc
Ormerod was also MB BS
http:// www.van uatu.us p.ac.fj /course s/LA306 _Family _Law/Ca ses/Cor bett_v_ Corbett .html
so there has been a dsictinct separation between identity behaviour chromosomes and anatomy since the 1970s
it was the only case I immediately and implicitly understtod when I was reading law in 1973
and hey presto ! back to the usual AB fare ....

“So I could turn up at a female only pond, don a bikini, claim to be trans and swim backstroke with a hard on ?”
Quite, derek. There is little doubt that the lunatics have now fully taken over the asylum. The idea that people can “choose” which gender they want to “identify with” is so laughable if it were not serious. Like it or not there are two genders. A few – a very few – people unfortunately suffer a gender identity problem. They need support and help. But to suggest that anybody can pick and choose what gender they want to be is preposterous.
Again, like it or not, many (probably most) people – of both genders - prefer to have single sex changing facilities. Many people also like to take advantage of single sex facilities for things such as swimming and other physical exercise. These should be delineated by the physical attributes the people involved have, not what clothes they fancy wearing. To allow otherwise is utter lunacy.

the german frauleins want an area they can be sure that mens hands wont find their way up their knickers - and they dont want the advice "well dont go out then!"
and somehow I kinda think that it not uppermost in the Konwood Ladies' minds
before I was ill I have a hazy memory of a lesnian louding shouting in a pub that she wanted to use the men's lavatory.
just saying

I once went to a women's only session at our local pool. Absolute nightmare, full of ladies doing breaststroke very slowly chatting to each other several abreast, couldn't get a decent swim in at all. Vowed to stick to the mixed sessions after that where there was a much stronger possibility of being able to get on with it.
