One of the reasons I thought Macron came across well is that he made some relevant, interesting, insightful comments - at least when Marr was not interrupting him. I wanted to (did actually) yell at the screen, 'shut up, Marr', because Macron was saying something helpful, but Marr closed him down.
The difference (IMHO) is that UK politicians are too afraid of the Mail or Sun taking umbrage at what they say. So their media advisors recommend waffling about Party politics, or some obscure but irrelevant factoid, and so the Interviewer interrupts and we get into a ridiculous non-interview.
Macron engaged with Marr; he answered the questions; he set out his points and I felt I learned something from the discussion.

Yes it was fascinating to see Marr really listening closely to M Macron.
One of the most interesting things Macron pointed out was that, actually, the free market values of the EU were actually championed by the UK government at the time, to the dismay of the French in particular. The French opposition to aspects of the EU had always been based on the fact that they think it is not regulated enough. ichi; The reason I am so concerned about British sovereignty is that just before she died, my mother gave me all the medals won by members of my family stretching back a long way in time, some for distinguished service and representing, sweat, and not an inconsiderable amount of blood, last year, I passed them on to my grandson.
