Gee thanks jordyboy
I always thought devil's advocate was a really spicy egg based alcoholic drink... You live and learn.
Wonder if ITV will 'sack' him for all programmes.
After all if Sky can suspend Carragher.............which is worse spitting or drink driving??

Unlikely.

Alistair Stewart, one of their main news anchors used to present Police Camera Action, a series about the police catching drink drivers, and he was actually prosecuted for drink driving in 2003, which is a bit of an irony!

Even better, the programme he narrated advised viewers to tip off the police if they saw a drunk driver, and that was how he was caught.

He was nearly three times over the limit and got fined and banned - the court was not told that he had been previously prosecuted for the same offence in the 1980's.

Stewart was suspended from the programme, but has continued to work for ITV since.
"He was nearly three times over the limit and got fined and banned - the court was not told that he had been previously prosecuted for the same offence in the 1980's."

It would have made no difference to sentencing if they had. Being at least 14 years old the offence was "spent" as far as the Rehabilitation of Offenders' Act is concerned. Whilst that in itself does not prevent a court from taking such a matter into account it would be extremely unusual for a court to allow such an ancient conviction to influence their sentence.
NJ - I was merely pointing out the facts of the case as reported, I have no view either way about if it should have affected his sentence or not.

Nahh, he has an OBE///

That can be taken away as easily as it was given to him.
I would propose Jacob Rees-Mogg and Anne Widdicombe to replace Ant & Dec - they would soon have the audience exiting in droves.
I just heard on 'talksport' that it will be And and Dec presenting the last two shows of Saturday Takeaway.
*Ant, oops just spotted my typo
I haven't read all the posts but I saw him on television a week or so back and he looked really quite unwell. A troubled man.
Thanks for the link Sipowics, a bit contradictionary news reports it seems I didn't mis-hear it.
Dec is going to carry on alone apparently ...
Does anyone else think this is sad .... or is it just me?
It is sad, to watch someone crumble so publicly - awful.
Indeed.
It is sad to witness anyone having a breakdown, Naomi. No excuse for drink driving though of course.
