jahuleye, it was I that said I hoped the child was ok, and truly I do, I did not or would not have sympathy for any drunk driver, known or unknown to the general public, I didn't have it on the first page either. Kval has said everything I could think to say of this situation, everything I agree with, I've no time for drunk or druggy drivers or wakey up after a night of drinking alcohol to drive

/// I am hoping for a lengthy ban and a significant fine coupled with community service if he is found guilty. ///

You are being too hard on yourself, why should you take all the punishment? :0)
I know your stance ducksie and you was the first user to mention and think about injured :)
Thanks
Sorry it was me, darceyk123 and then you but the same sentiments remain, lol
If I had £60,000,000 pounds, or even a paltry £1,000,000, I think I would take a taxi, or have a chauffeur, if I felt like going out for a drink or two!
“If I had £60,000,000 pounds, or even a paltry £1,000,000, I think I would take a taxi, or have a chauffeur, if I felt like going out for a drink or two!”

Especially if I was depressed, stressed and suffering from a mental illness.

Whoever he was drinking with must have known he was drinking and about to drive yet no one convinced him that he was unfit.

OK, Ant was drunk but we actually know that he was responsible for the crash? He seems to have run into the front-offside of the Mini - the bit you would hit if you were on a roundabout and somebody pulled out in front of you when you have priority.
Jahulaye also seems to think the child was nearly killed - the child was so young that asking it about its injuries may not have been the best way, so it was taken to hospital for a check-up.

///Whoever he was drinking with must have known he was drinking and about to drive yet no one convinced him that he was unfit. ///

Given the fact it was 4PM and he left home with his Mother and Dog(s) in the car I don't think that's entirely factual.
Just what I was about to post Baldric
Bhg461, the bottom line is whatever happened, Ant had his faculties impaired enough not to gauge a situation or brake quickly enough etc..

Yes the child her parents and any passengers or pedestrians that a drunk passed whilst impaired and in the possession of a two ton metal potential killing machine driven at high speed could have been killed.
Being over the legal limit and being 'drunk' are two entirely different things.
Still irresponsible, dangerous and downright stupid however you want to paint and sugar coat it.
You're at it again Jahulaye, my Volvo V70 only weighs a ton and a half, so I can't see a Mini weighing 2 tons. He wasn't driving at high speed either - you can t ell that by the damage on the car he hit. I have no sympathy whatsoever for Ant but please don't make up facts to condemn him.
A ton or whatever, a car of any speed when the driver is impaired can kill you was my point without getting too deep into physics.
At any accident the police breathalyse people involved. McPartlin failed the test, that is sufficient reason for the arrest, at this stage it is irrelevant who caused the accident and that issue will be dealt with later.

How much must he have drank if he was still over the limit at 4pm?

Must have been one hell of a party.
“which veered into the opposite side of the road and collided with a green Mini”

Do this was nearly a head on collision?
