Clearly they are not openly using the traditional tyrannical methods but I assert that the imposition of arbitrary rules and a an unstoppable march to federalism by an unelected corrupt entity does constitute a form of Tyranny over independent democratic nations. What say you?

Tyranny Def. Dictionary.com. Noun. "Arbitrary or unrestrained exercise of power; despotic abuse of authority." I consider that definition to describe the EU methods perfectly.

We vote for our MEPs though- do other countries not have elections for theirs?
‘Clearly they are not openly using the traditional tyrannical methods’

Thank you, that’s all I wanted in the other thread.

As for it being a form of tyranny, there’s no such thing. Something is either tyrannical or it isn’t.

Project fear in reverse.
Tyranny Def. Dictionary.com. Noun.
"Arbitrary or unrestrained exercise of power; despotic abuse of authority."

I consider that definition to describe the EU methods perfectly.

FF, yes MEPs are elected but there they sit around in a circle and talk. They do not form a government. The EU is governed by the commission et al and they are not elected.
Really? Give me 3 examples of the EU’s despotic behaviour directly affecting the UK.

have a day off ZM, there are many but anything we say will be poo poo'd by you and used as ammunition to derail the thread.
He's on his usual Brussels love-in.
Your damn right they would. If only someone could cite any, eh!
Ahhh, I see the bloke who thinks we voted for Theresa May to be PM is here.
ZM, Why do you try to defend the indefensible?

ZM: "Ahhh, I see the bloke who thinks we voted for Theresa May to be PM is here. " - once again another attempt to derail the thread. Why are you so against raising your own threads to discuss these points. The Parliamentary system we use is a valid subject to want to discuss so please do but do not try and derail other threads because you have no idea how to answer.
What’s indefensible? All I’m asking for is a leave voter or two to explain why they voted to leave this ‘tyrannical / despotic’ organisation which they can back up with a few practical examples of how this tyranny manifests itself in our daily lives.

I seem to be a bit of a lone wolf here. You would think with so many Brexiters around, they’d be able to come up with a few (putting aside NJ’s reasons of not being able to buy his favourite electric lightbulbs or a decent vacuum cleaner, which is hardly despotic)
3? Try the main one on for size to start with.

""European Commission is a non-elected institution. It enjoys too much political power. Although it does not take its legitimacy from the people, it has significant and effective role in the decision-making process.""

Sounds like tyranny to me.
‘Why are you so against raising your own threads to discuss these points‘

I’d rather make my point by pulling your threads to bits Tora.
Haha. I was just about to say "Ta" 3T.
Yet another ‘reason’ Togo without any practical back up of what that actually means in the lives of the average Briton.
"anything we say will be poo poo'd by you and used as ammunition to derail the thread."

Is it not normal to use evidence in a debate or argument to show the strength of your opinions?
The only people with no idea how to answer seem to be leave voters.

I’ll ask again as it’s clearly taking a while to sink in.....
‘In what way does this tyranny manifest itself and affect the UK’?

As for best answer.......really! Is that the best you’ve got?
""In a classical parliamentary system, people are represented by elected MPs. People use their constitutional right to vote to elect and un-elect MPs and the parliament. That means MPs, political parties and the parliament are responsible against the people. However, in the EU, people do not have such power.""

That will be 2 then. Need more?
Not in Tora land TCL. When the questions get a bit difficult for him, it’s his stock answer.
