.// PeterPedant, My … you’re off to an early start today. I haven’t mentioned terrorists or nutcases.//

hey boys! she's out of the bedroom and she's off!

Me me me - it is not all about you Nigh sweet one, the very first post in this thread was:
"Cue the ‘nutcase/terrorist’ debate......"

and I was wondering if we were any further forward.
no - the fella is Alex Minassian and they arent sure if he is mad or terroristen - a/c to 0800 news
You cant be both apparently

Some odd comments from some on here last night. Must have been all the Royal baby celebreating.

This is a terrible incident and regarless of whether it is terrorism or not it is a worry ing trend to use vehicles as weapons, but then something I said would happen if guns were not available.

On the subject of terrorism though I do find it odd that news is released saying Police have ruled out terrorism but dont know why it was done. Surely doing this fuels the conspiracy theorists and the better course of action would simply to say all avenues are being investigated until they know the why?
PeterPedant, Ahhh … I see. So it was my decision last night to go to bed that ruffled your feathers with me this morning. Hmmm... ;o)
The good news is that Missanian is an Armenian name and Armenia is only 1% Muslim (remember the alleged Turkish genocide bit, innit?), so nothing to see here.

Walk on, part and parcel of... London's the safest city next to Toronto, Barcelona and Nice and several towns and cities near to you.

Don't mention the war.
War? What war?

Did anybody mention a war?
Walk on by, nothing to see here, mate.
As I posted the last time, these are plainly copy cat incidents. You get a few such killings, motivated by wherever, and people with a screw loose realise it’s such an easy way to cause mayhem
And all this war talk. I think the AB website should provide a safe space for all its community.
I rarely have the telly on during the day, and never listen to the radio, so quite often, the first time I know of a news story is by looking in on AB. So thanks for posting Talbot.

Another atrocious incident. How long until the “mental health” card is played?

I wish I’d looked in on AB yesterday before putting the evening news on, then I could have watched paint dry instead of the royal baby borefest!
"How long until the “mental health” card is played? "

(From BBC)
Minassian had previously attended a school for students with special needs in north Toronto, former classmates said.
He would be seen walking around Thornlea Secondary School with his head down and hands clasped tightly together making meowing noises

I guess "Soon", might be the answer
There are ways of bringing news items to our attention.......and ways.
The last time a tragedy like this happened Talbot went with this as a way of letting us know......

https://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question1601111.html

.....and then it transpired that it had nothing to do with radicalised/murderous Muslims which rendered much of the discussion/speculation null and void.

I think that is what Zac is alluding to; it was certainly what I was thinking when I read this thread.

Sane people don't do things like this.
Zacs could have just posted a link to that thread. Instead he came across as being purposely awkward.

Latest news at 10am is that it is not thought to be connected to terrorism.
That may well be the case, JTH, but we are not compelled to to click on a question.
I wouldn’t if I don’t think it’s interesting. Having not looked in yesterday, but seeing the “it’s a boy” thread this morning, I definitely won’t be reading the posts on that.
I guess different folks have different ways of presenting things.
One particular regular is often vilified for the way he words his headlines, yet often ends up with an extremely long thread.

It can be the title of a post that either draws you in or makes you ignore it.
I was curious as to know what another incident was. Turns out it was indeed, “another” incident.
Question Author
The last thread I posted was a complete success as far as I'm concerned.
As with this 'incident', the story was well on the way on Twitter before I posted about it on here. I was already aware that there was speculation that the perpetrator was actually a German.
Hence 'Or did he just lose control' yes I was curious if the speculation of the killer being German would entice posters who don't normally bother with 'suspected terrorist' threads out of the woodwork... well, we know the answer to that.

//Sane people don't do things like this//

Most people don't. This person has. Why do you think he's a nutter? Have you tried to see things from
his point of view?/

Why a nutter? Isn't that completely obvious? Sane, decent people do not drive into a crowd of strangers.

It's the motivation that needs to be looked at.

Some are suffering with mental health issues. Some are religiously brainwashed and same are just bad.
//Why a nutter? Isn't that completely obvious? Sane, decent people do not drive into a crowd of strangers.//

It's not obvious to me. Sane and decent people (like my father) went to war and killed people. Some of these sane and decent people may have dropped bombs which incinerated children. And so forth.

These are facts of fairly recent history, and you're possibly unaware of them.

The bomber of WW2 and the truck driver "murderer" in Nice may have a similar justification for their actions.

That's quite a complicated notion to get your head round, isn't it?
