The corporation would instead choose to hire ‘a diverse range of people who reflect the modern world,’ Allen explained.//
But his diverse range of people only reflects the BBC’s preferred view of the modern world. If ever there was an incentive to switch off, that’s it. These miserable, petty-minded, politically correct idiots are taking all the fun out of the world.

What a stream of utter guff.
Do these people get paid for scribbling down their 'thoughts'.
"Answer, Prince Philip makes genuinely funny jokes — such as, when accompanying the Queen from Westminster Abbey after her coronation, asking her: ‘Where did you get that hat?"
Is Wilson even vaguely aware of what a joke, or even humour, is?

Nothing in this article we didnt know already.
As pointed out in there, if that is what some want then fine, they should pay for it. However a public funded body should be neutral and not be involved in social engineering. Unfortunately the BBC is now full of lefty Liberal 'elites' who will never allow change to unbiased viewpoints so it should be disbanded or made private.

hi dougie
excuse me for taking your pensaaaayz seriously
Oliver Godsmith was once studied in class because his written dialog was like it was...[ writes like an angel and speaks like Poor Pol - that one] the first person to have someone follow him around and note what he said in shorthand was ..... the divine Oscar
Lets hear it for Phil the Greek
Leaving aside the slitty eyed Peking remark - good for practising one's prince philip impression -
Are we on the menu ? as he went into a dinner on Santo Spiritu ( they used to eat their japanese aggressors apparently)
eek forgotten some good ones
I mean it is one persons opinion innit ? - The Beyond the Fringe (who?) team wouldnt have made it unless their stage versions were smash hits in Edinburgh and London. No question of being discovered by the Beeb
Crazy Dick Crossman said of TW3 ( free what dat den?) - oh when we get into power, we would never allow something like that !
I had one editor say he would print anything I wrote and his successor - told me to stop submitting as he had no .....
[I had made him recant an editorial where he praised himself as complete universally acknowledged crip - the lesson was dont quote yourself if your research is iffy)

// The article reflects exactly what’s happening at the BBC - and not just in comedy. It’s becoming more and more biased.//
none of this is new
in selection - er- you have to select
and so some poncey Beeb hack erased the tony hancock teevee tapes because they werent suitable stuff to save ....[IHO]
same for Dr Who - Adam Adamant
If you read the ITMA scripts ( Mona Lott - it is only being so happy as keeps me going) ( can I do you now sir?) ( Funf speaking - I will kill you dead ) - how they laughed ! and how we dont
My mother agreed that they rolled in the aisles - and that there wasnt much to laugh at in the mid war years.

Couldn’t agree more with you fender.
People like Boyle are a boil on society. But all the while the left have astrangle hold on the media, ie BBC it will be the same.
For a large part comedians now have to have an agenda. They have to support Corby and hate the Tories. Comedians who got humour out of polititions and politics in the past did it by taking the p. Then along came the likes of Ben Elton who’s politics was there comedy. And it has spiralled out of control.
So many BBC and other channels comedy programmes have a political point and it mostly all leans left.

Complete guff from Wilson. Humour is subjective; one man's Monty Python is another man's Are You Being Served. I don't think Michael McIntyre is particularly funny so, guess what, i don't watch him. Frankie Boyle, on the other hand, is hilarious (imho) so i do watch him. Simples. Television series are recommissioned (or not) based on viewing figures. Not whether a comic fits a particular BBC political criteria. Conspiracy theories abound.
The article is just an old man being grumpy.
Picking the best comedy over 50 years and then picking one comedian now and saying it does not compare, isn’t as funny as something you laughed at in 1973, is just nonsensical.
There has always been been great comedy in Britain. We as a nation have a good sense of humour. But times change, audiences change, and comedy changes woth it.
To say comedy isn’t funny anymore (which is basically what Letts is saying) and it is all Jeremy Corbyn’s fault, and the BBCs fault, and just all lefties’ fault, is a ridiculous thing to say.
It is not conedy that isn’t funny, it is people like Letts who are tired, old and unhappy and think that their whining is entertaining and profound. It isn’t, it is very dull.
