To be fair, Mr Lammy has not said what you are quoting him as saying.

His tweet appears to refer to 'the will of the people' as being something with which he disagrees, which is his right.

As an MP, a major part of his job is communication, accurate, not open to misinterpretation, and not using unparliamentary language.


Mr Lammy appears to have failed to grasp these essential ingredients, before communicating on TwitFace, and endorsing the opinion of just one voter - albeit a high profile highly paid voter, he is still just one voter with one opinion.

Mr Lammy would do well to avoid President Trump's habit of twitting first, and thinking afterwards - Mr Lammy's position is far less secure!

Creepy or what ? He and Lilly Allen( amongst others) have spent two years disrespecting and being bitter towards the people who had the good sense to vote against a totalitarian pyramid scheme. He has worked himself into a position whereby an intellectual lightweight can make grave statements with no foundation, opposing more than half the people who fund his gilded lifestyle without fear of disfranchisement or loss of easy livelihood. Not dissimilar to the ball kicker who made a name for himself on the back of team players who did all the graft for him. His criminal brother has more charm and grace than him, and at least keeps himself out of the tabloids and swerves the Beep Beep See with alacrity.

If "The will of the people" is to be respected, what should happen when a party wins a majority of seats in the House of Commons but not a majority of the popular vote? Whose will should be respected, the minority of those who voted for the winning party or the majority that voted against them?

I appreciate I was not clear.

I did mean that Mr Lammy is free to disagree with the result of the will of the people, he is not for one moment entitled to disagree with the concept of the exercise of the free will of the people.


The irony is, if I am misunderstood in writing on a website, it's really no big deal. But for Mr Lammy it is very much a big deal which is why he needs to think very carefully before hitting Twitface and tripping himself up publicly.
