I'll go with no deal rather than the "in all but name" - "deal" from Treason May.

Simply find out how campanies in "normal" countries cope when dealing with EU nations, when their own country has no trading agreement with the EU. Many nations do it and many of them do so very successfully. Sitting on your hands and wailing that it's all too difficult is not the way to go.
' Simply find out how campanies(sp) in "normal" countries cope when dealing with EU nations' That is in no way comparable to trying to anticipate the effect of Brexit (no deal or not) on a company which resides in a member state which is leaving. Come on NJ, you're better than that.
OG, 'You refer to a possible reaction to a worst case scenario' erm, yes i did that because you said that's what a company should do. 'not the scenario itself' erm (again).....I can't do that because no one knows what the scenario is, which was my whole point. I'm really not sure what the remainder of your post means.
YMB 'Most companies HAVE been working towards different options'. Have they, any examples?

I don't know of any examples of preparations that any companies have made apart from JD Wetherspoons. Their MD, Tim Martin, has already begun sourcing products from within the UK and outside the EU to replace those EU products he plans to ditch. I only know that because I am a JDW shareholder and read the releases they provide to investors.
I should have thought that the most straightforward way to deal with a Brexit accompanied by no deal is to assume that all the trading facilities currently provided as part of our EU membership will cease. That way business owners can only be pleasantly surprised if that doesn't happen. it shouldn't be too difficult to find out what that would mean to them individually and, after all, business owners are paid to run their businesses. Anticipating and handling change is part of that task. They will have had almost three years to prepare for next March and it is hardly anybody else's fault if they have sat back and done nothing during that time.
