YMB - // Still no one has answered my question on how they would propose the US rounds up over 400million guns? //
Obviously it's not feasible, much less practical, to simply suggest that Americans stop having guns one day, and hand them all in the next day.
It will take education, and a cultural change in attitudes of seismic proportions to convince a huge amount of Americans that guns are not a good idea.
As a thinking mass of society, America is not even toddling yet, much less walking towards meaningful change.
For all its massive sophistication as a culture, America remains rooted firmly in 'frontier' attitudes - a man has to have a gun to defend his family and property, and that attitude shows absolutely no sign of changing anytime soon.
Add in the enormous financial and political influence of the NRA on government, and the instant political suicide of any President or candidate who even breathes the words 'gun control', and you can see that this is not something that is going to happen for generations yet.
We can only hope that change will eventually come, but it's a safe bet that no-one alive today is going to be around to see even the start, much less the end of that change.
