Whenever the concept of Capital Punishment crops up - and it always does on threads like this - I am always willing to state my view -

Since Capital Punishment is not, by definition, a punishment, it can only be revenge.

That makes it state-sponsored murder, and that is not the way a civilsed society deals with its criminals, because to do so, puts in in the same situation as the murderer, and that cannot be right.

That is my personal view against Capital Punishment, and if that puts me a tad lower than this murderer in the eyes of Retrocop, then I'll live with that.

I have swung, (pardon the pun,) between death penalty and life in prison.
Not easy, but on balance I opt for life sentence.

He doesn’t deserve any sympathy. He is a sorry excuse for a human being. You don’t have to be frogmarched out to the bush and shot with a baby on you back. Vile things happen right here on our own home turf.

As an aside, what was it about him that encouraged three women to have six kids with him even after he was done for assault on a former partner!!!

I don't see the Death Penalty as 'revenge' but justice for the victim. A life for a life. Provided there is 100% proof that the perpetrator is guilty then a quick lethal injection should be given.
I don't condone the torture that a lot of people seem to prefer. In a way they are being just as sadistic as the murderer. Locking someone up for life,solitary confinement, being beaten up by the other prisoners etc. is that really what you want?
The sooner the death penalty is brought back the better !

It is certainly a punishment for the murdering criminal, they loose their life, and if it is also classed as revenge, then so be it.
