There are working families in the UK struggling to make ends meet, robbing peter to pay paul, and parents going without food so their kids can eat. There are old folks who dare not put the heating on because of the cost. Then there is this 'Thing' getting three square meals a day, heating,electric and probably TV free for the rest of his days, all with compliments of the UK Government. It's sickening. He should be put down.

I have mostly been in favour of capital punishment then I had a bit of a rethink and started to think perhaps if life meant life I'd forego it. Then a case like this comes along and I can't help feeling society should have a way of putting vermin like this down without necessarily having capital punishment for all murders. There are degrees of murder and I just feel that some, like this are sobad they need distinguishing from the others. Don;t ask me how, it's an emotive subject I just feel that it needs looking into. Anyway BA Antlydia, you made me think.

Agreed, he;s not ill, he's just amongst the very worst of humanity, going against nature itself in harming his own offspring. He's just a nasty, malevolent, controlling scum who did this to hurt his ex and has succeeded, like the guy who burned his two little boys to death for precisely the same reason, that his ex partner had moved out of his reach of control, so to regain it he did that. Beyond vile.

I disagree with andy-hughes and Theland. The death penalty is not revenge – it’s a solution. Some of my household waste goes for recycling but the worthless is dumped, as this creature should be.

It's very difficult to look at a picture of that wee girl, she has no future, her father has, all be it behind bars forever ( hopefully ). It shocks us every day just how evil some humans can be . RIP .

Thank you Tora. I totally agree with your idea of different levels of murder. I doubt we will ever reinstate the death penalty but I would certainly back a return in certain circumstances. I doubt it would be a deterrent to those whose crimes would qualify though.

I shrink from thinking about the horror and fear that that little girl must have felt. Then I read that her killer gets 25 years. There are degrees of murder. This man should never, ever be let out of prison, should be kept in privation and should not be protected from the contempt of other prisoners.

I would quite happily sign a petition to bring back hanging for the murder of children. I can but dream.

he's 55 now. he will serve a minimum of 27 years, so he will be eligible for parole when he's 82. chances are he may not live that long.
