if she goes, who would take her place at this late stage, and if the deal doesn't get through Parliament what happens next.

As pretty and amusing as it is, your allegory is incongruous, Karl. Most of the people who voted to leave the “bowls club” have no wish to retain any of its benefits or use any of its facilities. The reason the current mess has arisen is because our illustrious leaders who have been “negotiating” our departure have viewed the exercise as one of damage...

Jim, I read what is there.
You read, but you don't understand. There's a difference.
Encouraged defended and supported what?

I do hope this grand remainer conspiracy of the 16 million amounts to more than expressing anonymous opinions about Brexit on a News forum. That would be just a tad pathetic.
No one voted for this mess. Leave voters and I’m sure remain voter, expected the government to implement the result with vigour, commitment and honesty.

They haven’t done that and it isn’t the fault of leave that they haven’t. In fact it would seem to be the opposite.

Everyone was well aware of all project fear as well as leave reasons.

Some of that on both sides were either wrong, exaggerated or misinterpreted.

However it was made patently clear that a vote to leave meant we left the single market and customs union. We gained back our law making and end Brussels rule and could control our borders as we see fit.

Staying in both the customs union and single market ties the UK to Brussels rule and the backstop ties us until the EU says we can leave. Staying tied in to Brussels rule means we cannot make good deals with the rest of the world.

That is what is unacceptable.

At the end of the day if May took out the EUs decision making ability on when we will ‘be allowed’ to leave, a date for a true end to Brussels rule in its entirety I would accept a transition period. But she won’t.

She must go and someone with the guts to implement our leaving on the terms we voted for is imperative.
Most of the "people with guts" you want to take over haven't challenged her directly, and even the ones that have done have made essentially no headway, and apparently can't even organise a simple leadership plot. Whence this conviction that the same people who are either transparently incompetent, or transparently afraid of stepping up themselves, would be any better at sorting out this mess?
Well said, Cassa.

so another impasse, this is the most important decision that May has had to make and she has made a hash of it. I can't see where we go from here to be honest. Leave without a deal?
Emmie, that would be better than the deal as it stands.
Actually the ones with the guts have made a move. They have done it as per Conservative leadership rules. Give it a bit of time.

The leavers in her cabinet such as David Davis had no clout. She ignored everything he said and listened only to her alleys and the likes of Olly Robins. She got them working on a remainer plan behind everyone’s back.

Duplicitous, devious and an agenda to ignore the vote as much as possible.
Jim, //You read, but you don't understand. //

Sadly for you I understand perfectly.

These negotiations have never been about leaving, but rather about keeping one foot - and more - firmly wedged in the door.
What did David Davis say? This will be easy, it'll take like three months; Liam Fox was insistent that we'd have 40 trade deals sorted by 2020. Dominic Raab didn't know how important Dover was to our trade.

It's not a great track record to show how brilliant they'd be if only they were in charge, is it?

Meanwhile, the leadership challenge against May has already petered out; probably there will be a vote this week, she'll easily win it, and then that's your lot for 12 months.

It simply beggars belief that you still think their fools' gold was real.
No. You don't understand perfectly or even close to it. The negotiations have been about the UK gradually accepting that, after all, leaving as quickly, as swiftly, and as smoothly as was promised by the heads of the Leave campaign was impossible.
Jim, oh, I understand. The likelihood is that we aren't leaving - and certainly not completely - and as you say, not 'even close' to it. The will of the people, eh? Right.
That is one reason why the SNP have stated their intention to vote against the deal .
It’s looking more and more unlikely that the ultras are going to be able to force a confidence vote, never mind a leadership challenge. How in that case does anyone imagine they’d have any clout with the EU? Meanwhile MOs are likely to block “No deal”
As I’ve said before, if the PM’s deal fails to get through Parliament then I can only see Brexit being “saved” by a referendum
Question Author
where does this leave us if SNP won't sanction this deal, does it make any difference?
Ich, as the government have stated several times that they have plans in place for a no deal situation, what makes you think that it wont happen?
Jim it has only been impossible because the duplicitous remainers have been in charge. If you still don’t understand that please refer to my earlier post re David Davis.

Why can’t you see that had this been done with leaving the EU properly as per the referendum the aim, it would have been so much easier. As it is the remainers have purposely made it complicated, difficult and been useless by design to fool the easily fooled into thinking it is impossible.
And why was it that Remainer politicians were left in charge of this, cassa? It was because the Leave campaign leaders declined to take responsibility for their policy. As I recall, Johnson withdrew after Gove outmaneuvered him, Gove also withdrew, and Leadsome withdrew because she had been misleading everyone about her job experience. Even now they are having obvious difficulty mustering enough support to oust May when they clearly hate her deal.
