Actually, one more thing, just to answer your direct question: there's plenty of evidence to suggest that some people have changed their minds already since 2016. In both directions, for that matter: some former remain voters would now leave, and some former leave voters would now vote to remain. How many, and what the new balance is, I can't pretend to know. A future referendum on the same question would be close.

The only way to find out if the will of the people has changed, though, is to ask them properly.
Jim, //It is a narrow and flawed understanding of democracy to hold that a vote, once made, can never be unmade. //

No one has suggested that a vote once made can never be unmade - but in a democracy it would take another vote, offering precisely the same options, to do that. This isn't a change of mind - this is a travesty.

Another referendum of course would NOT be a rerun of the last one. The idea of it was always that it would let people vote on any deal. Rather than just a vague “leave”. So, whether you support one or not, that is the idea.
If we do leave with no deal it seems to me pretty clear that the government will collapse. Actually I can see that happening post March 29 regardless.
//The idea of it was always that it would let people vote on any deal.//

Thereby splitting the ‘Leave’ vote. Smart.
I thought Leave voters all wanted one thing, Naomi?
Not if there’s only one “Leave” option :-)
Actually having more leave or remain otions would be exceptionally problematic: if more people combined voted for say two leave options but the third remain option had the highest number of votes then I could see that causing a lot of aggro. Really that is the big snag with another referendum: what do you put as the options? I know what I’d have on there but ...
It was a 'once in a lifetime' referendum with 2 choices. Remain or Leave.
And Remain lost. (not sure some of you get it)
I believe they do Krom but I have my doubts that what they wanted will be on the list so if there is another referendum, with a deal of some sort the only option, it wouldn't surprise me if leavers stay away completely. There you go. Cracked it.
Why do you think no leave supporters would back a deal to leave the EU?
Boris Johnson no less at one point actually backed another referendum, were Leave to win the first. He of course was the one who wrote those heart searching twin pamphlets: one supporting Leave one Remain. He seems to have morphed into something a lot more extreme since. And he isn’t the only one of course.
"Rather than just a vague “leave”."

There's nothing vague about "leave". It was made quite clear what it would mean to voters (as far as the important aspects currently under debate go). It has only become vague by the machinations of Remainers who would rather we didn't leave at all.
Ichkeria, //Why do you think no leave supporters would back a deal to leave the EU? //

If you're talking to me, I don't.
There's been a deal to leave the EU ?! Why wasn't it put to the House then ? All we've heard of is May's attempt to tie us permanently into the EU, and other suggestions that also would keep us there.
I suggest you turn your attention to the real world of Brexit rather than your simplistic fantasy version. What the PM was proposing was one of the many unsatisfactory but undoubtedly “Brexit” options involving a negotiated exit. As most people acknowledge tho it’s a hundred times more satisfactory than merely walking away. We’ve been over this countless times - so many I could even write your reply and post it myself to save you the bother.
//We’ve been over this countless times - so many I could even write your reply and post it myself to save you the bother. //

I feel pretty much the same way.
//I must(not) admit I’ve changed my mind about Brexit after watching a BBC documentary on Thursday night. It showed a typical couple, Mr and Mrs Wildebeest, and their two children. Their once lush pastures have dried up and now they are being forced to re-locate. This has all happened since Brexit was announced. Coincidence? I don’t think so. The documentary narrator didn’t say it was ‘because of Brexit’ because the BBC is impartial. But the implication was pretty obvious. And they had an independent analyst from Dog Whistle Research who, thankfully, was able to spell out the REAL truth. The once lush pastures of the Serengeti Plains have dried. There are multiple explanations given by the Fake News channels of the mainstream media. But we all know the truth. The amount of pasture consumption was unsustainable. The rain stopped, because of complications in the weather supply chain. Caused by global warming. That’s a fact, the science is over.
Jean Claude Juncker and Guy Verhofmeister would have been able to stop it. But we don’t like foreigners, do we?
You can sense the hidden hand of Jacob Rees-Mogg behind this. He wants to close down the NHS and bring back the chimney sweep boys and child labour.
It’s all from Donald Trump’s White Supremacy Playbook. With a foreword by Adolf Hitler.
Now, as a result of Brexit, the Wildebeests are going to have to migrate. To make matters worse, one of the children is lame. He could be a target for Hyena Crime.
Yes, hate crime against Wildebeest Communities is on the increase in Brexit Britain.
Channel 4 News has a damning report from independent research company Anecdotal Agenda.
It’s not just FBI-sponsored hyena attacks on vulnerable herd stragglers. Animals are turning on each other in desperation. Lions, cheetahs and even once peaceful crocodiles are launching sickening attacks on the Wildebeest, who are being scapegoated by the mainstream media. It’s all Fake Gnus.
‘Wildebeest should be standing on each other’s shoulders. But now they are trampling each other in the mud,’ said a tearful Jon Snow.
Rain isn’t getting through. Pastures are down on this time last month. Ten per cent of the Wildbeest Herd has been killed or died. If we extrapolate that, and ignore all other variable factors, it means the entire herd will eventually be killed. That’s the hard evidence!
As a result, the entire animal kingdom could be wiped out.
But there is some hope. The younger members would never have voted for a migration. The older members who do tend to be the ones who die out. There is hope that a new referendum will be held, and the vote against the cycle of life could be overturned.
Still, it remains to be said: we are all suffering because of the older and wiser community, who trust their personal experiences rather than the Fake Gnus media. Oh God, what have they done? Won’t somebody think of the Wildebeest?//

Bwahaha.
