If you’re trying to paint the EU as worse than our political system, I have two main comments:

1. The expenses scandal
2. Cash for honours

You may also recall the discovery of a correlation between party donations and life peerages / peter mandleson resigning. Twice. There are many many more so let’s not pretend that the same, if not worse, corruption exists within our own system.
